Instructions for use for LOPHAKOMP B12 3,000mcg Solution for Injection, 100X2mL

Composition
Lophakomp® (3000 µg)
1 Ampoule with 2 ml solution for injection contains:
3000 mcg cyanocobalamin
Excipients: sodium chloride, water for injections

Cyanocobalamin and hydroxocobalamin acetate belong to the group of substances collectively referred to as “vitamin B12”. Hydroxocobalamin acetate represents a physiological depot form of vitamin B12. Both Lophakomp®-B12 injection solutions are free of preservatives.

Application areas
Vitamin B12 deficiency that cannot be corrected with nutrition. Vitamin B12 deficiency can manifest itself in the following clinical pictures:

Hyperchromic macrocytic megaloblastic anemia (pernicious anemia, Biermer anemia, Addison's anemia)
Funicular Spinal Disease

A vitamin B12 deficiency confirmed by laboratory diagnostics can occur with:

Years of malnutrition (e.g. through a strict vegetarian diet)
Malabsorption
insufficient production of intrinsic factor
Diseases in the end section of the ileum, e.g. sprue,
Fish tapeworm infestation or
Blind loop syndrome
Congenital vitamin B12 transport disorders

Contraindications Lophakomp®-B12-Depot (1000 µg) must not be used if one of the components is intolerable.

What must be considered during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
The recommended daily intake of vitamin B12 during pregnancy and breastfeeding is 4 µg. Based on previous experience, higher doses have no adverse effects on the unborn child. Vitamin B12 is excreted in breast milk.

Side effects
In individual cases, acne, eczematous and urticarial drug reactions and anaphylactic or anaphylactoid reactions were observed. So far no interactions are known.

Instruction of dosage and kind of usage
Lophakomp®-B12 (3000 µg):
1 ml twice a week (equivalent to 3000 µg cyanocobalamin).

Lophakomp®-B12 (3000 µg) and Lophakomp®-B12-Depot (1000 µg) are usually administered intramuscularly. However, they can also be given slowly intravenously or subcutaneously. If well tolerated, the duration of use is not limited. If there is a proven vitamin B12 absorption disorder in the intestine, vitamin B12 is usually substituted for life.
