1. What is Gaviscon Dual and what is it used for?

Gaviscon Dual is a combination of an alginate and two antacids (calcium carbonate and sodium hydrogencarbonate) and is in two ways:

1. It forms a protective layer over the stomach content and relieves the burning pain sensation in the chest
2. It neutralizes excess stomach acid and thus relieves pain and discomfort.

Gaviscon Dual Used to treat the acid-related symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux such as heartburn, acid resurgulation, indigestion (dyspepsia) z. B. after meals or during pregnancy.

2. What should you consider before taking Gaviscon Dual?

Gaviscon Dual may not be taken,

• if they are allergic to sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate, menthol, azorubin or one of the other ingredients of this medicine mentioned in section 6.

Warnings and Precautions:
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before you Gaviscon Dual take in:

• for heavy renal impairment.
• in the case of disturbed electrolyte balance, which can cause low phosphate levels in the blood (hypophosphatemia) if they suffer from significant kidney or heart disease, as certain salts can affect these diseases (please talk to their doctor with regard to salinity).
• if you know that you have a small amount of stomach acid, as this medicine can then be less effective.

Children:
Give children under 12 years Gaviscon Dual Only after consultation with the doctor. There is a risk for increased sodium values in the blood (hypematriam) in children with kidney problems and inflammatory stomach or bowel diseases (Gastroenteritis).

Taking Gaviscon Dual Together with other medicines:
Take within 2 hours of taking Gaviscon Dual No other medicine as it can come to interactions with other medicines.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you apply other medicines, recently applied other medicines or intend to apply other medicines.

Pregnancy, lactation and reproductive capability:
You can take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or intending to become pregnant. As with all medicines, the duration of the application should be kept as short as possible.

Driving and ability to operate machines:
Gaviscon Dual has no or a negligible influence on the ability to drive and the ability to serve machines.

Important information about certain other ingredients of Gaviscon Dual:
This medicine contains aspartame. Aspartame is a source of phenylalanine and can be harmful if you have a phenyl ketoneuria. A dose of 2 chewing tablets contains 110.75 mg (4.82 mmol) Sodium. If you need to meet a saline diet, you should consider this. A dose of 2 chewing tablets also contains 130 mg (3.25 mmol) of calcium. Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have kidney stones or increased calcium values in the blood.

3. How to take Gaviscon Dual?

Always take this medicine as described in this leaflet or just as your doctor or pharmacist is directed. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
To take you, especially swallow chew carefully.

Adults (including elderly) and children from 12 Years:
If complaints occur 2 to 4 chewing tablets after meals and before going to bed (up to four times a day),

Children under 12 years:
Taking only on medical advice.

If you have a larger amount of Gaviscon Dual have taken than you should:
If you have taken too much of this medicine, it is unlikely that this has a negative impact for you. It can occur a voltage sensation in the abdomen. When these symptoms occur, please contact your doctor.

If you are taking Gaviscon Dual have forgotten:
Do not take the double amount when you forget the previous taking. In this case, continue taking as usual.

4. Which side effects are possible?

Like all medicines, this medicine can also have side effects, but they do not have to occur each other.

Allergic reaction to one of the ingredients with symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea vomiting, rash, itching, dizziness, swelling of face, lips, tongue or neck and respiratory distress.

Other possible side effects:
Azorubin can cause allergic reactions. For correspondingly sensitized patients, menthol, hypersensitivity reactions (including respiratory distress) can be triggered.

5. How to keep Gaviscon Dual?

Keep this medicine inaccessible to children.

The other ingredients are: xylitol, Carmelose sodium, magnesium stearate (ph.eur.), Macrogol 20 000, Mannitol (Ph.eur.) (E 421), Copovidone, Acesulfam-potassium, Aspartam (E 951), Peppermint flavor and azorubine (E122).
This medicine is sugar and gluten-free.

Gaviscon Dual Are flat, round, two-layered chewable tablets with peppermint smell and taste a layer of chew tablet is pink colored and slightly speckled, the other layer is white.
