They work where they are needed, because the active ingredient sodium picosulfate passes the stomach and parts of the intestine and is only activated in the large intestine by the colon bacteria. Mode of action

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken:
  • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) against sodium picosulfate, related active ingredients from the group of triarylmethanes or one of the other components
  • in the case of intestinal narrowing with worsened intestinal passage, with intestinal obstruction, in the case of acute abdominal problems such as appendicitis, with severe abdominal pain combined with nausea and vomiting;
  • in the case of acute inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • if the body lacks a significant lack of fluid;
• Constipation, combined with other symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting and fever, can be signs of a serious disease (intestinal obstruction, acute inflammation in the abdominal area). With such symptoms, you must not take the tablets or other medicines and should see your doctor immediately.
• In the event of diseases that are associated with disorders of the water and mineral salt balance (e.g. severely restricted kidney function), you may only take the medicine under medical control.

Take the tablets with a little liquid in the evening, for example with a glass of water. Due to their small size, the tablets can be swallowed well. Patient information

Pregnancy

The ingredient sodium picosulfate, its actual form BHPM and its dismantling products do not go into breast milk. In contrast, pregnant women should not take the tablets, as there are no clinical studies to take during pregnancy.
