Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken,

  • Medicines for the suppression of rejection reactions to transplants

    • Proteinase inhibitor like indinavir
    • Non-nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitor like Nevirapine
  • Cytostatics like
    • Imatinib
    • Irinotecan with the exception of monoclonal antibodies
  • Medicines to inhibit blood clotting
    • Phenprocoumon
    • Warfarin
  • Hormonal contraceptives

dosage

• Duration of the application

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should
  • So far, no acute poisoning by St. John's wort preparations in humans has been reported. When taking significant overdoses, the skin should be protected from sunlight and UV radiation due to possible increased sensitivity to light (restricting stays outdoors, sun protection through covering clothing and use of sunscreen with high light protection factor, so-called "sun blockers" ). Taking

• Take the hard capsules unscrewed with plenty of liquid.

  • Particular caution when taking it is required
    • Medicines that contain components from St. John's wort (Hypericum), like this, can interact with other drugs:
      • Active ingredients from St. John's wort can accelerate the excretion of other drugs and thereby reduce the effectiveness of these other substances. Active ingredients from St. John's wort can also put on the concentration of a so-called "messenger substance" (of the serotonin) in the brain so that this substance may develop dangerous effects, especially when combined with other drugs.
      • If you are already using this preparation, you should inform your doctor about this if he prescribes another medication, or if you want to take a different medicinal product available in the pharmacy yourself. In these cases, it should be considered to end treatment with this preparation.
      • If a simultaneous application with other drugs is considered necessary, your doctor must consider the possible interactions:
        • Reduction of effects from:
          • Theophyllin
          • Digoxin
          • Verapamil
          • Simvastatin
          • Midazolam
        • Emphasis on different means of depression such as
          • Paroxetine
          • Sertraline
          • Trazodone
      • Simultaneous application should only be carried out after careful use/risk assessment due to the possible occurrence of serotonin syndrome with nausea, vomiting, fear, restlessness or confusion.
    • Intensive UV radiation (long sun baths, high-heeling, solariums) is to be avoided during the use of the preparation.
  • Children
    • There are no sufficient examinations for use in children. The drug must therefore not be used in children under the age of 12.

 

• Wateriness and ability to use machines
  • There are no special precautions required.

Pregnancy
