How does the ingredient of the medicine work?

The ingredients come from the Ginkgo plant and act as a natural mixture. About the plant itself:

- Appearance: Stately, dioecious tree with characteristically fan-shaped, parallel-veined leaves that turn golden yellow in autumn; the female cones smell unpleasantly of butyric acid
- Occurrence: China, Japan, Korea
- Main ingredients: ginkgolides, bilobalide, flavonoids
- Plant parts and preparations used: mainly extracts of the dried leaves
Ginkgo extracts improve the flow properties of the blood and promote cerebral circulation.

What age group do you need to consider?
- Children and adolescents under the age of 18: The medicine should not normally be used in this age group.

What about pregnancy and lactation?
- Pregnancy: According to current knowledge, the drug should not be used.
- Breast-feeding: According to current knowledge, it is not recommended to use it. You may be to consider a weaning.

If you have been prescribed the drug despite a contraindication, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The therapeutic benefit can be higher than the risk that the use entails in the event of a contraindication.

What should you consider?
- Be careful if you are allergic to binding agents (e.g. carboxymethyl cellulose with the E number E 466)!
- Beware of intolerance to lactose. If you have to follow a diabetic diet, you should consider the sugar content.
- There may be medicines with which interactions occur. You should therefore generally tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other medicine you are already using before starting treatment with a new medicine. Field of use

Ginkobil ratiopharm 120mg with ginkgo biloba (pack size: 200 pieces) contains an extract of ginkgo leaves. GINKOBIL-ratiopharm is used

• For the symptomatic treatment of brain-organic mental performance deficits and memory disorders. It is used as part of an overall therapeutic concept in the case of progressive decline or loss of acquired mental abilities (dementia syndrome) with the main symptoms: memory disorders, concentration disorders, depression, dizziness, ringing in the ears, headaches. Individual response to medication cannot be predicted. Before treatment with this drug is started, it should be clarified whether the symptoms are not due to an underlying disease that is specifically to be treated.
• To extend the pain-free walking distance in the case of arterial occlusive disease in the limbs, so-called "intermittent claudication" (intermittent claudication in stage II after FONTAINE) as part of physical-therapeutic measures, in particular walking training.
• For dizziness as a result of circulatory disorders or age-related regression processes (vertigo of vascular and involutive genesis).
• For the supportive treatment of ringing in the ears as a result of circulatory disorders or age-related regression processes (tinnitus of vascular and involutional origin).

Frequently occurring dizziness and ringing in the ears generally require clarification by a doctor. A doctor should be consulted immediately in the event of sudden deafness or hearing loss. When ringing in the ears burdens everyday life Beeping, whistling, hissing, buzzing or ringing - people who have already been affected by ringing in the ears know how annoying these noises are. Contraindications

• The medicine must not be taken
  • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to ginkgo biloba or any of the other ingredients,
  • during pregnancy.

dosage

Recommended use of Ginkobil ratiopharm 120mg with Ginkgo biloba (pack size: 200 pieces):

• Always take the medicine exactly as directed. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
    • For the symptomatic treatment of brain-organic performance disorders:
      • Adults over the age of 18 should take 1 tablet twice a day (equivalent to 120 mg ginkgo extract twice a day).
    • To extend the pain-free walking distance in peripheral arterial occlusive disease:
      • Adults over 18 years of age should take 1 tablet once or twice a day (equivalent to 120 mg ginkgo extract once or twice a day).
    • For dizziness and for the supportive treatment of ringing in the ears:
      • Adults over 18 years of age should take 1 tablet once or twice a day (equivalent to 120 mg ginkgo extract once or twice a day).
    • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of this medicine is too strong or too weak.
    • Children and adolescents
      • The medicine is not intended for use in people under 18 years of age.
• Duration of use
  • In the case of brain-organic performance disorders:
    • The duration of treatment should be at least 8 weeks. After a treatment period of 3 months, the doctor must check whether the continuation of the treatment is still justified.
  • For peripheral arterial disease:
    • The improvement in walking distance performance requires a treatment period of at least 6 weeks.
  • In case of dizziness:
    • Use over a longer period of time than 6 to 8 weeks does not bring any improvement in the treatment result.
  • For ringing in the ears:
    • Supportive care should be provided for at least 12 weeks. If there is no success after 6 months, this is no longer to be expected, even with longer treatment.

• If you take more of the medicine than you should:
  • Signs of overdose are not known to date. The side effects listed below may be more pronounced if you have taken a large amount of the medicine. Please notify your doctor. This person can decide on any necessary measures.

• If you forget to take the medicine:
  • Do not double the amount next time, but continue to take as directed by your doctor or as described here.

Revenue

• To take.
• It is taken in the morning and evening when used twice a day, and in the morning when used once a day.
• Do not take tablets lying down. Please swallow the tablets whole with sufficient liquid (preferably a glass of drinking water).
• It can be taken independently of meals.

  • What to consider with children?
    • There are insufficient studies on the use of this medicine in this age group. It should therefore not be used in children and adolescents under the age of 18.
  • What else do you need to look out for?
    • If you have a pathologically increased tendency to bleed (hemorrhagic diathesis) or if you are being treated with anticoagulants, this medicine should only be used after consulting a doctor.
    • Since there is some evidence that ginkgo-containing preparations could increase the tendency to bleed, this drug should be discontinued before an operation as a precaution. Please inform your doctor in good time if you have taken the medicine so that he can decide how to proceed.
    • If you are known to suffer from seizures (epilepsy), please consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

Pregnancy

• What do you have to consider during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
  • Since there is some evidence that ginkgo-containing preparations could increase the tendency to bleed, this medicine should not be taken during pregnancy.
  • This medicine should not be used during breast-feeding as there are insufficient studies. It is not known whether the components of the extract are excreted in breast milk.
