Warnings: Contains sodium compounds, menthol, methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate (E 218) and propyl-4-hydroxybenzoate (E 216).

1. What is Gaviscon Dual and what is it used for?

Gaviscon Dual is a combination of an alginate and two antacids (calcium carbonate and sodium hydrogencarbonate) and is in two ways:

1. It forms a protective layer above the stomach content and relieves the burning pain sensation in the chest.
2. It neutralizes excess stomach acid and thus relieves pain and discomfort.

Gaviscon Dual Used to treat the acid-related symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux such as heartburn, acid resurgulation, indigestion (dyspepsia) z. B. after meals or during pregnancy.

2. What should you consider before taking Gaviscon Dual?

Gaviscon Dual may not be taken,

• when they are allergic to natriurnalginate, sodium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate, menthol, methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate (E 218), propyl-4-hydroxybenzoate (E 216) or one of the other ingredients of this medicine referred to in section 6.

Warnings and Precautions:
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before you Gaviscon Dual take in:

• for heavy renal impairment.
• in the case of disturbed electrolyte balance, which can cause a low phosphate mirror in the blood (hypophosphatemia.
• if you have suffered or suffered from a significant kidney or heart disease, as certain salts can influence these diseases (please contact your doctor with regard to salinity).
• if you know that you have a small proportion of gastric acid, as this medicine then less effectivem can be.

Taking Gaviscon Dual Together with other medicines:
Take within 2 hours of taking Gaviscon Dual No other medicine as it can come to interactions with other medicines.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you apply other medicines, recently applied other medicines or intend to apply other medicines.

Pregnancy, lactation and reproductive capability:
You can take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or intending to become pregnant. As with all medicines, the duration of the application should be kept as short as possible.

Visitance and ability to operate machines:
Gaviscon Dual has no or a negligible influence on the ability to drive and the ability to serve machines.

Important information about certain other ingredients of Gaviscon Dual:
A single dose of this medicine contains 127.35 mg (5.53 mmol) Sodium. If you need to meet a saline diet, you should consider this.
A single dose of this medicine also contains 130 mg (3.25 mmol) Calcium. Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have kidney stones or increased calcium values in the blood.

3. How to take Gaviscon Dual?

Always take this medicine as described in this leaflet or just as your doctor or pharmacist is directed. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Adults (including elderly) and children from 12 Years:
10-20 ml (1 to 2 bags) after meals and before going to bed, up to four times a day.

Children under 12 years:
Taking only on medical advice.

If you have a larger amount of Gaviscon Dual have taken than you should:
If you have taken too much of this medicine, it is unlikely that this has a negative impact for you. It can occur a voltage sensation in the abdomen. If these symptoms occur, please contact your doctor.

If you are taking Gaviscon Dual have forgotten:
Do not take the double amount when you forget the previous taking. In this case, continue taking as usual.

4. Which side effects are possible?

Like all medicines, this medicine can also have side effects, but they do not have to occur each other.

Very rare (can concern up to 1 of 10,000 treated):
Allergic reaction to one of the ingredients with symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rash, itching, dizziness, swelling of face, lips, tongue or neck and respiratory distress.
The inclusion of larger amounts of calcium carbonate, which is a component of this medicine, may increase the blood pH (alkalosis), increased calcium levels in the blood (Hypercalemia), causing increased production of gastric acid and constipation (constipation). This usually occurs when the recommended dose is exceeded.

Other possible side effects:
Methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate (E 218) and propyl-4-hydroxybenzoate (E 216) can cause hypersensitivity reactions, even with a delay. For appropriately sensitized patients, menthol hypersensitivity reactions (including respiratory distress.

5. How to keep Gaviscon Dual?

Keep this medicine inaccessible to children.
