Field of use

  • The medicine is a vitamin and mineral preparation with the active ingredients Colecalciferol (vitamin D3) and sodium fluoride.
  • The preparation is used to combine rachitis and caries in infants and children in the first two years of life.

Contradictions

  • The medicine must not be used,
    • if your child has a hypersensitivity (allergy) against Colecalciferol, sodium fluoride or one of the other components of the preparation,
    • if your child has a high calcium content in the blood,
    • if your child exits calcium in the urine,
    • if your child is restricted in his mobility (e.g. because of a plaster association),
    • if you already have enough fluoride through your child. B. supply fluoridated food salt, drinking, mineral or table water.

dosage

  • Always apply the medicine exactly according to the instruction.
  • Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
  • Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, 1 tablet is given as a common dose from the end of the first week of life for the production of a solution (corresponding to 500 I. E. vitamin D3 and 0.25 mg fluoride).
  • The doctor will take further forms of fluoride intake into account when dosing.
  • The one daily application corresponds to that of the German Society for Nutrition (reference values for the nutrient supply of the German Society for Nutrition, 1st edition, p. 185, 2000) for children under 4 years of fluoride dosage in a fluorine concentration in drinking water/mineral water Under 0.3 mg/l.

 

  • Duration of the application
    • The doctor decides on the duration of the administration of the preparation.
    • If only insufficient amounts of fluoride and vitamin D are absorbed in the long run, the medicine should be taken by the end of the age of second.

 

  • If you have used a larger amount than you should
    • No side effects can be expected in the event of a one -off overdose.
    • In the event of a slight overdose, the preparation can be discontinued for a few days depending on the dose taken and the overdose period, while administering low -calcium food.
    • Acute overdose
      • If the doctor is very high, treatment should be decided by the doctor. The treatment should be carried out from a clinic if necessary from an intensive care point of view.
    • Chronic overdose
      • With long -term overdose of fluoride in the first years of life, there is a possibility of forming melting stain on the permanent teeth and with very significant, long -term overdose disorders can develop. Long -term overdose of vitamin D (from 1800 I. E.Tag) can lead to increased calcium levels in the blood and in the urine and as a result of soft tissue calcificationn lead. The treatment of an overdose should be carried out under medical control or in a clinic, if necessary from an intensive care point of view.

 

  • If you have forgotten the application
    • If the administration of the drug has been forgotten, it is advisable to continue to administer the preparation as usual, i.e. that is, an intake forgotten the day before is not made up for.
    • If the preparation has not been administered over several weeks, taking the drug can be extended by the corresponding period if the doctor considers this necessary.

 

  • If you cancel the application
    • If the administration of the drug was finished earlier than recommended by the doctor, rachitis can develop, especially in the winter months. Caries protection is reduced.

 

  • If you have any further questions about the application of the drug, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Taking

  • The tablet for the production of a solution with about 2 - 3 tablespoons of liquid, e.g. B. put tea or water, put in the bottle, let it disassemble and give the child or let the tablet to manufacture a solution to take on a teaspoon of fluid and add the solution to the child directly in the mouth (the solution to take is tasteless ).
  • It is important that it is taken before a meal so that the active ingredients of the preparation are also fully supplied to the child.

Patient information

  • Particular caution when taking the drug is required,
    • if your child was born too early or with too low. Here, caries prevention should only be used by using the preparation after reaching a body weight of 3000 g and with normal physical development.
    • if your child tends to form kidney stones or suffers from sarcoidosis (Boeck's disease),
    • if your child is treated with thiazids (diuretic medication). In these cases, special caution is attached to the vitamin D administration (risk of high calcium content in blood and urine),
    • if your child has a severe chronic disease affecting growth. In this case, you should consult the treated doctor whether caries prevention with fluoride is suitable for your child.
  • Infants who are fed with a balanced diet, and children who receive a balance sheet due to a congenital metabolic disorder do not require the drug.
  • If you use vitamin D3 enriched milk for the preparation of your child's food, a drug supply to vitamin D3 may not be necessary.
  • If the water used to prepare your child's food (drinking, mineral or table water) more than 0.3 mg fluoride per liter, an additional administration of tablets containing fluoride is not necessary1. In these cases, only rachitis prevention with vitamin D3 must be carried out. This restriction does not apply if you only breastfeed your child, since fluoride only goes into breast milk to a very small part.
  • If you already carry out a combined prevention against rachitis and caries with the preparation for your child, please do without further fluoride gifts, e.g. as tablets or fluoridated salt.
  • In children under the age of 3 who take the medicine, no fluoride -containing toothpastes should be used (because of the risk of swallowing the toothpastes).

 

  • Wateriness and operating machines
    • Not applicable.

Pregnancy

  • The preparation is only intended for use in children.

Miscellaneous

- In the case of nutrition through milk enriched with vitamin D3, additional intake of vitamin D3 may not be necessary. - If the water (drinking, mineral or table water) used to prepare the infant or toddler contains more than 0.3 mg fluoride per liter, an additional fluoride intake is not required. - If the drug is taken, do not use any additional fluoride intake and no fluoride -containing toothpaste
