Instructions for use for CASTELLANI M. Miconazole solution, 100 ml

Field of use

• The medicine is a fungicidal medicine for the external treatment of fungal diseases of the skin (antimycotic).
• The solution is used for fungal skin infections caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, molds and others, such as Malassezia furfur. These can occur e.g. B. in the form of
  • Mycoses of the feet (mycosis of the spaces between the toes, soles, backs of the feet)
  • Mycoses or fungal infection of the body skin and body skin folds
  • superficial candidiasis
  • Pityriasis versicolor (Pityriasis versicolor)
  • Erythrasma
• Miconazole is used in infants, children and adults.

Contraindications

• The medicine must not be used
  • if you are allergic to miconazole, related antifungal medicines or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
  • Not suitable for use in the ear canal.

dosage

• Always use this medicine exactly as described or exactly as discussed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
• Dosage
  • The solution is applied to the affected skin area 1 - 3 times a day.
  • The signs of the fungal infection usually disappear significantly within the first 7 days after starting treatment with miconazole. If the signs of the fungal infection do not go away within the first 7 days after starting treatment, you must consult a doctor.
  • To avoid recurrence, treatment should be carried out until the fungal culture is negative, but at least 14 days after the symptoms have subsided.
  • There should be a treatment-free period of 3 - 4 days between the last application of miconazole and the creation of a fungal culture so that any residual active ingredient does not influence the culture.
  • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the solution is too strong or too weak.

 

• Duration of application
  • The duration of therapy is on average 2 - 5 weeks.

 

• If you use more medicine than you should
  • Excessive use may cause skin reactions, which usually resolve after therapy is stopped.
  • If you accidentally take miconazole, please contact your doctor.

 

• If you forget to use the medicine
  • Do not use a double dose if you forget the previous dose.

 

• If you stop using the medicine
  • If you stop treatment too early, the fungal infection may reoccur.

  • Miconazole is for external use only and must not be taken.
  • Avoid eye contact.
  • If hypersensitivity reactions or irritation occur, treatment should be discontinued.

 

• Ability to drive and use machines
  • Miconazole has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
• Miconazole applied to the skin is absorbed into the body to a very small extent (less than 1%).
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should only use the solution after consulting a doctor.
• Lactation
  • There are no data available as to whether the active ingredient is excreted in breast milk.
