Instructions for use for AZELASTIN Micro Labs 0.5 mg/ml eye drops, 6 ml


Azelastin Micro Labs 0.5 mg/ml eye drops.
Active ingredient: azelastin hydrochloride 0.05 % (0.5 mg/ml).

Composition: Each drop contains 0.015 mg azelastin hydrochloride.
Other components: benzalkonium chloride, hypromellosis, sodium defeat, sorbitol solution 70% (crystallizing), sodium hydroxide (for pH setting), water for injection purposes.

Areas of application: Treatment and prevention of the symptoms of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis in adults and children aged 4 and over. Treatment of the symptoms of non -seasonal (perennial) allergic conjunctivitis in adults and children from the age of 12.

Warning: contains benzalkonium chloride.

Detailed instructions for AZELASTIN Micro Labs 0.5 mg/ml eye drops, 6 ml

Field of use

  • The drug contains the active ingredient azelastin. This belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. Antihistamines prevent the effects of substances (such as histamines), which are produced by the body in connection with an allergic reaction. It was shown that Azelastin reduces inflammation on the eye.
  • The medicine can be used to treat and prevent complaints in the eye (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis) in adults and children aged 4 and over.
  • The drug can be used to treat allergies on substances such as house dust mites and animal hair in the eye (nonennial (perennial) allergic conjunctivitis) in adults and children aged 12 and over.
  • The medicine is not suitable for the treatment of infections of the eye.

Contradictions

  • The medicine must not be used,
    • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) against the active ingredient azelastin hydrochloride or one of the other components.
  • If you do that, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

dosage

  • Always apply the medicine precisely according to the doctor's instructions.
  • An important clue:
    • Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure how to use this medication and what the right dose is.
  • Due to hay fever (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis)
    • Application in adults and children from 4 years:
      • The usual dose is a drop in every eye in the morning and evening.
  • If you expect contact with flower pollen, you can use the usual dose to be prevented before you leave the house.
  • Through an allergy-related eye complaints (non-seasonal (perennial) allergic conjunctivitis)
    • Application in adults and children from the age of 12:
      • The usual dose is a drop in every eye in the morning and evening.
  • If you have severe symptoms, your doctor can increase the dose to a drop in each eye to four times a day.
  • If possible, you should use the eye drops regularly until your symptoms have disappeared.
  • If you interrupt the application, your symptoms can reappear.
  • Please remember:
    • Do not apply the eye drops for more than 6 weeks.
    • The medicine may only be dripped into the eyes.

 

  • If you have used a larger amount of eye drops than you should
    • It is unlikely that the insertion of too much eye drops problems arise in the eye. If you are therefore worried, get in touch with your doctor.
    • If the eye drops swallowed, please contact your doctor or the emergency room of the nearest hospital as soon as possible.

 

  • If you have forgotten the application of the drug
    • Take your eye drops as soon as you think about it again and then continue with the next application at the usual time. Do not apply the double dose if you have forgotten the previous application.

 

  • If you have any further questions about the application of the drug, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Taking

  • How do you drizzle the eye drops?
    • So that you can drive the eye drops properly, you should sit in front of a mirror for the first time so that you can see what you do better.
      • Wash your hands.
      • Wipe your eyes lightly with a cloth to remove moisture
      • Screw the vial and check that the dropper is clean.
      • Carefully pull the lower eyelid down.
      • Drizzle the drop carefully into the middle of the lower eyelid. Make sure that the dripper does not touch the eye.
      • Let go of the lower eyelid and press lightly against your nose from the inner corner of the eye. Press your finger against your nose and slowly blink to distribute the drop over the eyeball.
      • Then remove excess eye drops with a cloth.
      • Repeat the process for the other eye.

Patient information

  • Particular caution when using the drug is required,
    • if you are not sure whether your eye problems are due to an allergy. Especially if only one eye is affected if your eyesight is restricted or if the eye hurts and you have no symptoms on the nose, there is a possibility that it is more an inflammation than an allergy.
    • if the symptoms worsen despite the treatment with the medicine or persist for more than 48 hours without improvement.
  • In this case, please contact your doctor or pharmacist.

 

  • Ask your doctor, pharmacist or optician before using the eye drops:
    • if you take/apply other, not prescription -subject drugs.
    • if you wear contact lenses.

 

  • Wateriness and operating machines
    • Your view can be impaired for a short time after using the eye drops. In this case, wait until you can clearly see before you actively participate in road traffic or operate machines.

  • Pregnancy and breast feeding period
    • If you are pregnant, want to get pregnant or breastfeed, please ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using the drug.
