Field of use

• The medicine is a laxative.

• Like other laxatives, this medicine should not be used daily or over a longer period of time without medical clarification of the constipation.

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be used,

dosage

• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
  • for adults and children over 10 years:
    • once 1 suppositories (corresponds to 10 mg bisacodyl)
• The daily maximum dose of 1 suppositories (for adults and children from 10 years) should not be exceeded.
• The suppositories are inserted into the rectum. The activity occurs approx. 15 - 30 minutes after the suppository is introduced.
• For intestinal emptying for treatment measures and measures for recognizing diseases (diagnostic and therapeutic interventions) on the intestine and in the case of diseases that require relieved intestinal emptying, the doctor is used.

• Duration of the application
  • The application of the drug is usually a one -time application. In the event of recurring symptoms, the preparation can be used again.
  • The suppositories should not be used every day or over longer periods without clarifying the cause of the constipation.

• If you have used a larger amount than you should
  • In the event of overdose, diarrhea and abdominal cramps with high losses of liquid, potassium and other mineral salts can occur. If you have severe complaints, ask your doctor for advice.
  • The treatment depends on the prevailing symptoms. If necessary, the liquid and salt losses (especially potassium) must be compensated for.
  • Notice:
    • In general, it is known from laxatives that in chronic overdose, they lead to chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, humiliated potassium values, excessive secretion of aldosterone and kidney stones. In conjunction with chronic laxative abuse, damage to the kidney tissue, a metabolism-related increase in base concentrations in the blood and about reduced potassium values was also reported.

  • In the event of chronic constipation, you should ask your doctor for advice before application.
  • An increased loss of fluid can lead to drying out (dehydrated). In certain circumstances (e.g. in patients with impaired kidney function or in older people) this can have harmful effects. In such cases, the application should be interrupted and only continued under medical supervision.
  • Laxatives (stimulating laxies), including this medicine, do not contribute to weight loss.
  • Patients reported blood admixtures in the stool, which were generally described as weak and stopped themselves.
  • In patients who have used this preparation, dizziness or short -term seizures of consciousness (syncope) were reported. According to the corresponding case reports, these are presumably syncope that either go back to the laxative process itself, pressing or on circulatory reactions due to abdominal pain.
  • The use of suppository can lead to painful sensations and local irritation, especially in patients with tears in the anus mucosa (anal fissure) and chronic inflammation of the rectum (ulcerative proctitis).
  • Children
    • The suppositories must not be used in children under the age of 10.
    • In children, the suppositories should only be applied to medical instruction.

- The long -term application of the drug often leads to intensification of intestinal inertia.
- In the case of long -term or high -dose use, there is often increased losses of water, Kalium and other salts. This can lead to disorders of heart function and muscle weakness, especially when taking pharmaceuticals for drainage and adrenal hormones.
