Read the entire leaflet carefully because it contains important information for you. This medicine is available without insurance. However, in order to achieve the best possible treatment success, Plastulen® Iron must be taken in accordance with the requirements.

1. What is Plastulen® iron and what is it used for?

Plastone® Iron is a medicine for the treatment of iron deficiency states.
Plastone® Iron is used:
- for the treatment of iron deficiency states
- With increased iron requirements (e.g., during pregnancy, lactation and growth), if a risk for the formation of an iron deficiency is recognizable.

2. What do you need to consider it iron before taking Plastonen?

Plastone® Iron may not be taken:
- if you hypersensitive (allergic) against iron (LL) sulfate 1h20, Amaranth or any of the other ingredients of Plastulen® Be iron
- in iron recycling disorders (sideroachrestic anemias, lead anemias, thalassemias)
- in diseases that lead to an oversupply of iron in the blood (Hemochromatoses, chronic hemolyses).

Take special care with Plastonen® Iron:
To avoid the risk of possible iron overdose, special caution is required if dietary or other iron salt supplements are used. For pre-existing inflammation or ulcers of the gastrointestinal mucosa, the benefit of treatment should be carefully weighed against the risk of aggravating the gastrointestinal disease.

When using Plastulen® Iron with other medicines:
Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have applied other medicines or recently applied, even if it is non-prescription medicines.
- Iron salts reduce the absorption of tetracyclines, penicillamine, gold compounds, Levodopa and methyl dopa from the intestine.
- iron salts influence the recording of quinolon antibiotics (e.g., Ciprofloxacin, Levofloxacin, Norfloxacin, Ofloxacin) from the intestine.
- Iron salts reduce the intake of thyroxine from the intestine in patients receiving substitution therapy with thyroxine.
- the absorption of iron from the intestine is achieved by the simultaneous application of Colestyramine, Antacid (Calcium, Magnesium, Aluminum salts) as well as calcium and magnesium supplement preparations.
- The simultaneous ingestion of iron salts with salicylates or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can reinforce the irritation of iron to the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract.
- Iron-binding substances such as phosphates, phytates or oxalates as well as milk, coffee and tea inhibit iron uptake.

Plastone® Iron should not be within the following 2 to 3 Hours after administration of one of the above-mentioned substances. Please note that DIinformation can also apply to recently applied medicines.

Taking Plastonen® Iron together with food and beverages:
Plastone® Iron should not be taken along with coffee, milk or black tea, as they reduce iron recording.

Pregnancy and breast feeding period:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking all medicines. Reports on unwanted effects after taking oral iron preparations in therapeutic doses for the treatment of a bloodlessness in pregnancy are not yet known. If you are pregnant or breastfeed, you should only take Plastonen® Iron on the order of your attending physician.

Driveion and use of machines:
There are no special precautions required.

Important information about certain other ingredients of Plastonen® Iron:
This medicine contains sucrose. Please take Plastulen® Iron therefore only after consulting with your doctor if you know that you suffer from any intolerance to certain sugars. Amaranth can cause allergic reactions.

3. How is Plastulen® to take iron?

Always take Plastulen® iron exactly as directed in this leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
For adults and children from 12 years
- For the prevention of an ironmangel 1 capsule in the morning on an empty stomach.
- For the treatment of iron deficiency anemia is 30 minutes to 1 in the evening Hour before eating 1 more capsule, so a total of 2 Capsules daily.

Type of application:
To take.
The capsules should be unambiguously before meals with liquid (e.g., 1 glass of water) are taken.

Duration of application:
To fill the iron stores, treatment after normalization of iron values in the blood should be 8 to 10 weeks with each 1 capsule per day continues. Please talk to your doctor if you have the impression that the effect of Plastulen® Iron is too strong or too weak.

If you take a larger amount of Plastonen® Iron than you should:
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and fever can be signs of overdose.
If there is suspected overdose with Plastonen® Iron, a doctor is immediately notified.

If you forget to take Plastonen® Iron:
Do not take the double dose if you forget the previous ingestion.

If you have further questions about the use of the medicine, ask your doctor and pharmacist.

4. Which side effects are possible?

Like all medicines, Plastulen® Iron can have side effects, but they do not have to occur each other.
When assessing side effects, the following frequency information is usually used:
Very common: more than 1 treated from 10 treated
Frequently: 1 to 10 treated from 100 treated
Occasionally: 1 to 10 treated by 1000 treated
Rarely: 1 to 10 treated by 10,000 treated
Very rare: less than 1 treated from 10,000 treated
Frequency not known: Frequency on the basis of the available data is not estimable

Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract:
Rare: Magpress, appetite, feeling of fullness. The intake of Plastolen® Iron during or after the food leads to better compatibility, but reduces iron uptake. A black staining of the chair is irrelevant.
Very rare: constipation (at the beginning of the treatment).

Diseases of the skin and subcutaneous tissue:
Frequency unknown: skin reactions (including allergic skin reactions). Amaranth can cause allergic reactions.
Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if one of the listed side effects will significantly affect it or notice side effects that are not specified in this document formation.

5. How to keep Plastulen® iron?

Store drug out of reach of children. This medicinal product does not require special storage conditions. You may be the medicine after the expiration date indicated on the folding box and the throughput pack no longer apply. Medicines should not be disposed of in wastewater or budgetary waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine if you no longer need it. This measure helps protect the environment.

What Plastulen® Iron contains:
The active ingredient is: dried iron (LL) sulfate.
1 hard capsule, retarded contains 174.4 mg of dried iron (LL) sulfate corresponding to 55 mg of elemental iron (1 mmol).

The other ingredients are:
Spray dried arab rubber, gelatin, macrogol 300, Cornstarch, sodium dodecyl sulfate, povidone k 25, shellac, stearic acid (ph.eur), sucrose, talcum, purified water, amaranth (E123), erythrosine (E127), indigocarmin (E132).

Like Plastulen® Iron looks and content of the pack:
Red capsule shell with dark red pellets.
Plastone® Iron is available in packs with 20.50 and 100 hard capsules, retarded.
