Field of use

• This medicine belongs to the group of so -called pancreatic preparations. Pancreatic enzymes are the digestive enzymes of the pancreas. The most important digestive enzymes are lipase, amylase and proteases. Lipase divides fat from the food, amylase divides thickness and protease divides protein.
• The enzymes are located in capsules with gastric acid -resistant micro tablets. In the stomach, the micro tablets are released from the capsules and mix with the food porridge so that the enzymes in the food get into the small intestine.
• It is used to replace digestive enzymes for digestive weakness (maldigration) as a result of a disturbed function of the pancreas.
• The medicine is suitable for adults, young people and children.

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken,
  • if you are allergic to pancreas powder from the pig or one of the other components of this medicine.
  • if you are allergic to pig protein: the pancreatic powder contained in the drug comes from the pancreas of pigs. If you are allergic to pork, you could also be allergic to this preparation.

dosage

• Always take this medicine exactly as described or follow your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• Dosage
  • The dose must be adjusted individually and, taking into account the amount and composition of the meals, should not exceed the enzyme dose necessary for adequate fat digestion. An increase in the dose should only be carried out under medical control and aimed at improving the disease signs (e.g. fat chair, abdominal pain).
  • Various strengths and dosage forms are available: your doctor recommends that the dose that is most suitable for you. For more information, see use information!
  • The recommended dose for adults and adolescents is 20,000 to 75,000 units* per meal (corresponds to 2 to 7 capsules) or 10,000 to 25,000 units per snack (corresponds to 1 to 2 capsules). Some patients need significantly higher doses.
• Application in children
  • In infants and children, the recommended initial dose is EUR 10,000 - 20,000 pH. Units per meal.
  • The conservation dose is 500 to 4,000 units* lipase per gram of fat (corresponds to 50,000 to 100,000 units* lipase per day or 5 to 10 capsules with 10,000 units or 2 to 4 capsules with 25,000 per day).

• How long should you take the medicine?

Taking

• Take in the preparation for meals with a lot of liquid, for example fruit juice.
• If you cannot swallow all of the capsules, you can open the capsules by pulling apart and mix the content with a small amount of liquid or soft food (such as orange juice, apple juice or apple sauce), which you can swallow without chewing. Swallow this immediately after mixing and chewing. Drink a glass of water or juice afterwards so that the entire drug is really washed down.
• Do not mix the capsule content with basic dishes or drinks such as milk, ice cream or tea. Neither the capsules nor their content may be chewed.

• Warnings and Precautions
  • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
    • If these active enzymes are not taken into account accordingly, you can irritate the mucous membrane in the oral cavity if they are released there. That is why the capsules and/or their content as a whole have to be swallowed.
    • If high doses are taken, the uric acid concentration in the urine should be monitored.
  • If you have cystic fibrosis (an inheritance disease that affects several organs, but above all the lungs and the digestive system) and must be treated with high doses, this special case may result in narrowing in the colon.

• Wateriness and ability to operate machines
  • The medicine has no effect on the ability to use and the ability to use machines.

Pregnancy

• If you are pregnant or breastfeed if you suspect that you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this drug.
• This medicine can be taken during pregnancy or lactation. As far as is known, there is no risk for the fetus or the baby. However, you have to keep the prescribed dose.
• Pregnancy
  • If you take vitamin B11 (folic acid) during pregnancy, you may need to take a higher dose of folic acid. In this case, please speak to your doctor.

It is important to be careful to swallow the preparation unz -chew, as it contains active enzymes that are released in the oral cavity, e.g. B. chewing, can lead to mucosal damage (ulcerations of the oral mucosa).

The absorption of folic acid (absorption of folic acid in the blood) can be reduced by taking pancreatic powder-containing finished medicinal products so that additional folic acid intake may be required.

The effect of blood sugarresting active ingredients (oral antidiabetics) acarbosis and Miglitol can be reduced by simultaneously taking the preparation.

In individual cases, allergic reactions from the immediate type (such as rash, sneezing, tear flow, bronchospasm) and allergic reactions of the digestive tract have been described after taking pancreatic powder. If this allergic reaction occurs, the preparation must be discontinued immediately and a doctor must be consulted as soon as possible.

In patients with a characteristic malfunction of the pancreas (cystic fibrosis), the formation of narrowing (strictures) in lower intestinal sections (ileozökal region and colon ascendics) has been described in individual cases.
