DEVIT 400 I.E. Tablets. Active substance: colecalciferol (Vitamin D3). Areas of application: For prevention against Rachitis (Sculking of the skeleton in the growth age) and for the prevention of persons with the risk of a vitamin D deficiency disease and supportive treatment of osteoporosis (degradation of the bone tissue). Warnings: Contains soybean oil and sucrose (Sugar).

The following information is considered as far as your doctor DEVIT 400 I.E. Tablets did not prescribe otherwise. Please stick to the application regulations, since Devit 400 I.e. Tablets can not act properly (see also under precautions for the application).
The recommended dose is:
For the prevention of persons with known risk of vitamin D deficiency disease:
1-2 tablets DEVIT 400 I.E. Tablets (corresponding to 10-20 μg or 400-800 I.e. Vitamin D).
For supportive treatment of osteoporosis:
Daily 2 tablets Devit 400 I.e. Tablets (corresponding to 20 μg or 800 I.e. Vitamin D).
For prevention against Rachitis:
Daily 1 tablet Devit 400 I.e. Tablets (corresponding to 10 μg or 400 I.e. Vitamin D).
For prevention against rickitis in premature babies:
Pretent born with a birth weight > 1500 g:
1 tablet DEVIT 400 I.E. Tablets (corresponding to 10 μg or 400 I. Vitamin D)
Pretent babies with a birth weight of 700 g to 1500 g:
Daily 2 tablets Devit 400 I.e. Tablets (corresponding to 20 μg or 800 I.e. Vitamin D).
The dosage must be determined by the attending physician.
Daily boxes over 500 I.e./ag:
During long term treatment with Devit 400 I.e. Tablets, the calcium levels in the blood and urine should be regularly monitored and renal function can be checked by measuring serum creatinine. Optionally, a dose adjustment according to the blood calcium values must be made.
Type of application:
The tablets should be taken with sufficient water.
Application for infants and toddlers:
For infants and toddlers, you should disintegrate the tablet on a teaspoon with water and the decayed tablet will give the child directly, best during a meal, in the mouth.
An addition of the decayed tablets to a bottle or beam elements for infants is not recommended, as this no complete supply can be guaranteed. If the tablets are nevertheless to be administered in the food, the addition takes place only after bringing up and then cooling.
When using vitaminized food, the vitamin D quantity contained therein must be taken into account. Infants receive Devit 400 I.E. Tablets from the second week of life to the end of the first year of life. In the second year of life, further gifts from Devit 400 I.e. Tablets are recommended, especially during the winter months.

Overdose and other application errors:
Taking a too large amount:
The signs of overdose are less characteristic and expressing themselves in nausea, vomiting, initially often diarrhea, later constipation, loss of appetite, matter, head, muscle and joint pain, azotemia (increased nitrogen concentration in the blood), increased thirst, elevated urgent and end-phase dehydration.
Please contact your doctor about the signs an overdose of vitamin D.
A special antidote does not exist. Your doctor will initiate the necessary countermeasures.
Taking into a small amount or taking has been forgotten:
Once too little DEVIT 400 I.e. Tablets Forgot a dose, please do not take twice the amount of medicines next time, but continue taking how intended.
Taking was canceled or interrupted:
In the event of an interruption or premature end of treatment, their complaints can deteriorate or occur again. Please contact your doctor.

Type of application?
Older children and adults: Take the medicine with liquid (e.g., 1
glass of water). Infants and toddlers: Let the medicine decay on a
teaspoon in a small amount of water. The dissolved tablet can be
given to the child directly in the mouth.
Duration of use?
The application period depends on the type of complaint and / or
duration of the disease and is therefore only determined by your
doctor. For the prevention of Rachitis, infants receive the
medicine from the 2nd week of life until the end of it was 1 year
of life. From the 2. Life of life are further gifts to recommend in
particular in the winter months.
Overdose?
In an overdose, among other things, it can be increased calcium
values in the blood with cardiac arrhythmias, thirst, liquid
deficiency, powerlessness or Weakness, consumption disorders as

the suspicion of overdose immediately with a doctor.
In general, especially in infants, toddlers and older people, pay
attention to a conscientious dosage. In case of doubt, ask your

What speaks against an application?
Always:
- Hypersensitivity to the ingredients
- Increased calcium values
- Increased calcium excretion in the urine
- Increased vitamin D levels in the blood
- Kidney stones
Under certain circumstances - talk to your doctor or
pharmacist:
- Tendency to form renal stones
- disturbed calcium excretion
- Disturbed phosphate show
- Restricted mobility
- Sarcoidosis (Boeck disease) (rare, frequently inherited disease,
with education of small tissue nods, especially in the lungs)
- metabolic disorder (pseudohypoparathyroidism)
Which age group is to be considered?
- Children and adolescents under the age of 18: In this age group,
the medicine should only be used in certain fields of application.

What about pregnancy and lactation?
- Pregnancy: Contact your doctor. There are different

How does the ingredient of the medicine work?
The active ingredient engages in protein production. He triggers
the formation of a protein which binds calcium into itself and
releases to the bloodstream. In this way, the blood calcium level
is increased, this calcium is then available for bone building.
What should you consider?
- Beware of allergy against cow's milk or beef protein!
- Beware of an intolerance to sucrose. If you need to follow a
diabetes diet, you should consider the sugar content.
