B12 Steigerwald
Active substance: Cyanocobalamine

Indication group:
Vitamins.

Application areas:
Vitamin B12 deficiency that can not be remedied nutritionally. Vitamin B12 deficiency can comment in the following diseases:

• Hyperchrome macrocytic megaloblast anemia, (Perniciosa, beermer - anemia, addison anemia; These are ripening disorders of red blood cells),
• Funicular spinal disease (spinal cord damage).

A laboratory diagnostically secured vitamin B12 deficiency can occur at:

• Years of deficiency and malnutrition (e.g., by strictly vegetarian food);
• Malabsorption (insufficient recording of vitamin B12 in the intestine) by
  • insufficient production of intrinsic factor (a protein formed in the gastric mucosa and for absorbing vitamin B12 is needed),
  • Diseases in the end portion of the ileum (part of the small intestine), e.g. Sprue,
  • Fish tape web case or
  • Blind - loop syndrome (change of the intestinal course according to gastrointestinal operation);
• Congenital vitamin B12 transport disturbances.

Contraindications:
B12 - Steigerwald must not be used in incompatibility with one of the ingredients.

Note:
The recommended daily vitamin B12 supply in pregnancy and lactation is 4 μg. According to previous experiences, higher application quantities have no adverse effects on the unborn child. Vitamin B12 is eliminated in breast milk.

Warnings and precautions for use:
B12-Steigerwald contains sodium, but less than 1 mmol (23 mg) Sodium per 1 ml injection solution, i. Is almost "Sodium-free".

Interactions with other medicines and other means:
So far, no interactions are known. Note: Due to the instability of vitamin B12, an efficacy of vitamins can occur by admixing other drugs.

Dosis, kind and Time of the Use:
Unless otherwise prescribed, at the beginning of treatment in the first weeks after diagnosis 1 ml (corresponding to 500 μg cyanocobalamine) administered twice a week. For proven vitamin B12 recording disorder in the intestine, 100 μg cyanocobalamine is then administered once a month. B12-Steigerwald is usually administered intramuscularly (injected in a muscle). But it can also be added slowly intravenous or subcutaneously (sprayed in a vein or under the skin). B12-Steigerwald is intended for longer use. The doctor should be questioned.

Overdose and other application errors:
Poisoning or overdosing are unknown. If the treatment is interrupted, the treatment success is at risk! If unpleasant side effects occur, talk to the doctor about further treatment.

Side effects:
In individual cases, skin symptoms (acne as well as eczemate and urticarial drug reactions) and hypersensitivity reactions (anaphylactic or anaphylactoid reactions) were observed.

Composition:
