Application

For children aged 8 and over and adults:
The recommended dose is: 1 to 2 sachets per day, preferably taken as one dose in the morning.It is recommended to drink 125 ml of liquid (e.g. water) after each dose.The daily dose should be adjusted according to the clinical effect and may vary from one sachet every two days (especially in children) to a maximum of 2 sachets per day.

The contents of each sachet should be dissolved in a glass of water (at least 125 ml) immediately before taking and then drunk.

Laxbene® takes effect 24 to 48 hours after taking it.

The improvement in bowel movement frequency achieved after taking Laxbene® can be maintained through a healthy lifestyle and diet.

In children, the duration of treatment should not exceed 3 months, as there are no clinical data on treatment lasting longer than 3 months.Treatment should be stopped gradually and resumed if constipation recurs.

Area of application

Laxbene 10 g for children aged 8 and over and adults is an osmotic laxative.

Laxbene is used for the symptomatic treatment of constipation in adults and children aged 8 years and over.
It should be used together with appropriate lifestyle changes and an appropriate change in diet.

In the case of constipation in children, the duration of treatment should be a maximum of 3 months.

Contraindications

• The medicine must not be taken,
  • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to macrogols or any of the other ingredients of the product
  • if you suffer from serious intestinal diseases (severe inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease)
  • if you suffer from a so-called “toxic megacolon”.This causes the large intestine to expand rapidly, often accompanied by flatulence and fever or shock.Usually, this disorder occurs in patients who already suffer from serious intestinal diseases such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease.However, it can also occur in people with blocked or narrowed intestines and corresponding symptoms (symptomatic stenosis)
  • if you have an intestinal perforation or your doctor suspects there is a risk of an intestinal perforation
  • if you have an intestinal obstruction
  • if you may have a narrowing of the intestines
  • if you have pain in the abdomen of an undetermined cause

Dosage

• Always take the medicine exactly as directed.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• Adults and children aged 8 and over
  • The usual dose is 1 - 2 sachets per day, preferably in one dose in the morning.
  • The daily dose should be adjusted according to the effect on constipation symptoms and can range from 1 sachet every two days (especially in children) to 2 sachets per day.
  • The medicine is not recommended for children under 8 years of age.

 

• Duration of application
  • If there is no improvement after 2 weeks of taking the medication, you should consult a doctor.
  • Children are usually prescribed the drug for a maximum of 3 months.You can help your child eliminate constipation by ensuring adequate fluid intake, a diet high in fiber, and plenty of physical activity.

 

• If you take more medicine than you should
  • Like all laxatives, high doses of the drug can cause diarrhea.If diarrhea occurs, reduce the dose or stop taking the product until the diarrhea has subsided.Diarrhea can cause soreness in the anus.See your doctor if diarrhea persists despite a reduced dose.

 

• If you forget to take the medicine
  • Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.Instead, take the normal dose at the next scheduled time.

 

• If you stop taking the medicine
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if constipation returns or worsens after you stop taking the medication.

 

• If you have any further questions about using the medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacy.

Intake

• Dissolve the contents of each sachet in a glass of water immediately before taking.

Patient information

• Particular caution is required when taking the drug
  • when diarrhea occurs, especially
    • if you are older
    • if you have liver dysfunction
    • if you have kidney dysfunction
    • if you take water tablets (diuretics)
  • Your doctor should check your blood values if diarrhea occurs under the conditions mentioned while you are using the product.
  • Drug treatment should only be given for a short time.You should support your bowel function with further measures such as adjusting your lifestyle and eating habits
    • drink enough fluids and food with a higher fiber content
    • are physically active, taking into account your age and state of health
    • Train your bowel movements
  • Please inform your doctor if your digestive problems do not improve despite changes in lifestyle and dietary habits and despite taking the product.
  • Children should not take the preparation for longer than 3 months.

 

• Ability to drive and use machines
  • The drug is unlikely to affect the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

• The medicine can be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice before using any medicines.
