Instructions for use for KA VIT drops, 5 ml

Emulsion to take.

Active ingredients: phytomenadion (vitamin K1).

Application areas:
For treatment and prevention of vitamin K deficiency states.

Field of use

  • The preparation contains phytoma adion (vitamin K1), a means of preventing bleeding.
  • Securing area of application for the medicine is the therapy of vitamin K deficiency states and the prevention of vitamin K deficiency states that cannot be remedied in terms of nutrition. This includes:
    • Newborn-vitamin K-prophylaxis immediately after birth, vitamin K prophylaxis in patients with risk factors for the development of a vitamin K deficiency as soon as the quick value drops below the standard limit or the INR value increases over the standard limit,
    • Vitamin K therapy in patients with vitamin K deficiency bleeding, which are usually associated with a quick value below 10% or an INR value of 5 or higher. The vitamin K deficiency bleeding can be caused by a real vitamin K deficiency or by a too high dosage of certain blood-thinning drugs (cumarinity).
  • Information on risk factors for a vitamin K deficiency state
    • Risk factors are in newborns and infants:
      • Taking certain drugs (anticonvulsants, tuberculostatics and cumarine attendants) during pregnancy and breastfeeding
      • Early and deficiency birth, complicated birth, later feeding begins, exclusive breast nutrition and inadequate feeding.
    • Risk factors are in the infant, older child and adults:
      • disturbed intake of certain substances from the intestine (malabsorption syndromes), nutrition through direct infusion in the blood circulation (parenteral diet), traffic jam of bile within the biliary gang (bile duct, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, cytomegalie virus infection, closure arctice)
      • Diseases of the pancreas, reduced amount of certain protein fabrics in the blood (A-ß-lipoproteinemia), treatment with antibiotics (especially cephalosporins), sulfonamides or salicylates.
  • Notes on deficiency symptoms
    • Vitamin K deficiency symptoms can be caused
      • by a real lack of vitamin K (e.g. due to nutritional or by disturbed recording in the intestine)
      • when using blood clotting drugs (cumarinians such as phenprocoumon or warfarin) or by various inhibitors of the vitaminKEpoxidDreduktasis, bruises (hematoma) are broken (hematomas), through bleeding black stool , Melaena), red colored urine (hematuria) and severe headache, dizziness or symptoms of brain bleeding.

  • Application for newborns

  • Dosage to prevent a vitamin K deficiency
    • Healthy newborns who were born to or shortly before the calculated date of birth are preserved:
      • a first dose of 2 drops (corresponding to 2 mg vitamin K1) at or shortly after birth.
      • a second dose of 2 drops 3 to 10 days nach of the birth
      • a third dose of 2 drops 4 to 5 weeks after birth
    • In infants that are fed exclusively with the bottle (with infant food), the third dose can be omitted.
  • Premature babies or mature born with a particularly high bleeding risk
    • These children should receive vitamin K1 as a syringe (injection). The medicine is not suitable for this; Your doctor will use a different medicine for this.
  • Dosage for treatment for vitamin K deficiency bleeding
    • In patients with vitamin K deficiency bleeding, the medicine should be dosed according to the desired effect:
      • With lighter bleeding, a dose of 1 - 5 mg phytoma adion (corresponding 1 - 5 drops) is generally sufficient for the age of the patient.
      • In patients with vitamin K deficiency bleeding as a result of an overdose of blood clotting medicines (cumarinians such as phenprocoumon or warfarin), which have lighter bleeding, it is usually sufficient to stop stopping anticoagulans.
      • In the event of moderate bleeding, the administration of 5 - 10 mg phytomenadion (corresponding to 5 - 10 drops) is recommended.

  • Duration of the application
    • If you take long -term, you should ask the doctor.

  • If you have taken a larger amount than you should
    • No toxic phenomena have so far become known after overdose.

Patient information

    • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine,
      • if you have to take medicinal products regularly against blood clotting disorders (cumarinoism), you should only take the medicine with more detailed compliance with the dosage required by the doctor. In this case, the risk of vascular closure (thrombosis) can result from the cancellation of the cumarin effect because the coagulation -promoting factors are activated faster by vitamin K1 than the coagulation.

  • Wateriness and ability to operate machines
    • Special precautions are not required.

Pregnancy

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeed, or if you suspect that you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this drug.

Hello, keeping KaVit drops on hand was strongly recommended by the vet in case my dog ingests "poison bait" (rat poison) while out for a walk. Since then, I've had one of these small bottles with me just to be on the safe side, because there's only about 30 minutes left in which you can react. I am reassured and happy that these little bottles exist and yet I hope that I will never need the contents. Unfortunately they only last until 08/2018. I'll just order new ones in August because the price is completely ok. and the delivery came super fast. Thank you and best regards.

I buy the KA Vit drops for my dog who had coumarin poisoning (rat poison). and still prone to internal bleeding. With KA Vit drops we got everything under control. A great alternative for the product in veterinary medicine, which is very expensive.
