How does the ingredient of the medicine work?

The active ingredient has analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory at the same time. The drug also has antirheumatic properties. It blocks the formation of certain messenger substances in the body, so-called prostaglandins. These are significantly involved in the development of pain, fever and inflammation.

Always:
- Hypersensitivity to the ingredients

Under certain circumstances - talk to your doctor or pharmacist about this:
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (chronic airway disease with a narrowing of the airways)
- Chronic respiratory infections
- Bronchial asthma
- Allergic colds, for example hay fever
- Nasal polyps (proliferation of the nasal mucosa)

What age group do you need to consider?
- Children under 14 years: The medicine must not be used.

What about pregnancy and lactation?
- Pregnancy: consult your doctor. Various considerations play a role in whether and how the drug can be used during pregnancy.
- Breast-feeding: consult your doctor or pharmacist. He will examine your particular starting position and advise you accordingly as to whether and how you can continue breastfeeding.

If you have been prescribed the drug despite a contraindication, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The therapeutic benefit can be higher than the risk that the use entails in the event of a contraindication.

Side effects

What adverse effects may occur?

- Skin hypersensitivity reactions such as:
- Itching
- Skin redness
- Skin rash
- Inflammatory reactions of the skin
- Contact dermatitis (allergic skin reactions that only occur with repeated use)
- Eczema

What should you consider?
- Caution: Patients with nasal polyps, chronic respiratory infections, asthma or who are prone to allergic reactions such as hay fever: the medicine can trigger an asthma attack or a severe allergic skin reaction. Therefor consult your doctor before usage.
- Be careful if you are allergic to painkillers!
- Antioxidants (e.g. butylated hydroxyanisole, butylated hydroxytoluene) can cause skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis), irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes.
- Solvents (e.g. propylene glycol, E 477) can cause skin irritation.

Field of use

Whether during sports or in everyday life: Acute strains, bruises or sprains happen faster than you think. Classic movement pains such as knee and back pain are also stressful and restrict everyday life. That's why you want effective help to get fit again. The analgesic and anti-inflammatory active ingredient diclofenac has proven itself in sports injuries, degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system and acute strains and bruises. That's why there is now something new from ratiopharm for the effective treatment of acute injuries: Diclox forte pain gel with the proven active ingredient diclofenac. This allows the pain to be treated exactly where it hurts. The difference to other pain gels lies in the higher dosage. Diclox forte pain gel is particularly suitable for people who need a higher-dose pain gel. Despite the double* active ingredient concentration, Diclox forte has only a low risk of side effects and helps with targeted pain treatment.

Mode of action

The active ingredient diclofenac has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect. That is why it is often used for sports and accident injuries, joint pain, tendonitis and rheumatic diseases. In the case of acute movement pain, Diclofenac has proven particularly effective as a pain gel for external use. Sometimes lower dose ointments or gels are not enough for pain and you need something stronger.
But now there is something new from ratiopharm: Diclox forte pain gel with the proven active ingredient diclofenac in a double* active ingredient concentration, which reliably helps with pain and inflammation. Despite the higher dosage, it has only a low risk of side effects. Diclox forte leaves hardly any residue when massaged in and acts specifically where it hurts. It can be used twice a day. Depending on the size of the painful part of the body, apply an amount the size of a cherry to a walnut. It should not be used for more than 7 days without medical advice. Diclox forte is suitable for adults and young people aged 14 and over.

Active ingredients: 20 mg diclofenac sodium (equivalent to 23.2 mg diclofenac N-ethylethanamine)/1 g

Contraindications

The product should not be used if there is a known hypersensitivity to any of the active ingredients mentioned above.

• Warnings and Precautions
  • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
  • If you suffer from asthma, hay fever, swelling of the nasal mucosa (so-called nasal polyps) or chronic bronchoconstricting (obstructive) airway diseases, chronic airway infections (especially in connection with hay fever-like symptoms) or hypersensitivity to other painkillers and rheumatism drugs of all kinds, you are at risk of asthma attacks (so-called Analgesic intolerance/analgesic asthma), local swelling of the skin or mucous membranes (so-called Quincke's edema) or urticaria are more at risk than other patients.
  • In these patients, the preparation may only be used under certain precautionary measures (emergency preparedness) and direct medical supervision. The same applies to patients who are also allergic to other substances, e.g. B. with skin reactions, itching or hives.
  • If the gel is applied to large areas of the skin and used over a long period of time, the occurrence of systemic (affecting the whole body) side effects due to the use of the medicine cannot be ruled out.
  • The medicine should only be applied to intact, non-diseased or injured skin. Eyes and oral mucous membranes must not come into contact with the medicine and it must not be ingested.
  • After applying the gel to the skin, you can use a permeable (non-occlusive) bandage. Before applying a bandage, however, the gel should dry on the skin for a few minutes. You must not use an airtight occlusive dressing.
  • Consult a doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve after 3-5 days.
  • Discontinue treatment if a rash occurs during treatment with the preparation.
  • Avoid sun exposure, including tanning beds, when using this medicine.
  • Care should be taken to ensure that children do not come into contact with rubbed areas of the skin.
  • Children and young people
    • The preparation must not be used in children and adolescents under 14 years of age.

• Ability to drive and use machines
  • The drug has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
• Pregnancy
  • Do not use the medicine during the last trimester of pregnancy as it could harm the unborn baby or cause problems during delivery. In the first and second trimester of pregnancy, it should only be used after consulting a doctor.
• Lactation
  • Since diclofenac passes into breast milk in small amounts, the preparation should only be used during breastfeeding after consulting a doctor. If you are breastfeeding, you must not apply the gel to the breast area, to large areas of skin or over a long period of time.
