Diclofenac Heumann Gel

Gel with 10 mg diclofenac sodium/g (active ingredient: diclofenac sodium)

Application: In adults for the external treatment of pain, inflammation and swelling in sports and accidental injuries (sprains, bruises, strains); rheumatic Diseases of the soft tissues (tendon and tendonitis, bursitis, inflammation in the muscle and capsule area); degenerative diseases of the upper and lower Limbs (peripheral limb joints). In adolescents over 14 years of age for the local, symptomatic short-term treatment of pain associated with acute bruises, strains or sprains as a result of blunt trauma. Status: 10/2021

Proven active ingredient
You don't have to endure pain, but instead treat it early on with suitable medication. Diclofenac Heumann Gel contains the active ingredient diclofenac sodium, which belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Due to its pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties, the ingredient has proven itself for decades in back, muscle and joint pain as well as in minor sports and accident injuries, rheumatic complaints in muscles, tendons and ligaments and pain from osteoarthritis.

APPLICATION RECOMMENDATION:
Diclofenac Heumann Gel is intended for external use only! Apply a thin amount the size of a cherry to a walnut to the affected parts of the body and rub in gently. Then wash your hands thoroughly - unless it is the area to be treated. Before applying a bandage, the medicinal gel should dry on the skin for a few minutes. Depending on the symptoms and the severity of the disease, using the drug for 1 to 3 weeks is sufficient. In adolescents 14 years and older, a doctor should be consulted if pain persists for more than 7 days or if symptoms worsen.

How often can I use Diclofenac Heumann Gel for acute pain?
diclofenac Heumann Gel can be used 3 to 4 times a day for acute pain. Depending on the size of the area to be treated, an amount the size of a cherry to a walnut – equivalent to 2 to 4 g of gel or 20 to 40 mg of diclofenac sodium – is applied. The maximum daily dose of 16 g gel (160 mg diclofenac sodium) must not be exceeded.

What is particularly important when using Diclofenac Heumann Gel?
Diclofenac Heumann Gel should not be used if you are allergic to diclofenac, isopropanol or any of the other ingredients of the medicine or to other medicines used to treat pain, inflammation or fever (NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or acetylsalicylic acid).

In addition, Diclofenac Heumann Gel must not be used in children and adolescents under the age of 14, in the last trimester of pregnancy or on open injuries, mucous membranes, eczema and inflammation or infections of the skin.

What are the ingredients in Diclofenac Heumann Gel?
The active ingredient in Diclofenac Heumann Gel is diclofenac sodium. 1 g gel contains 10 mg diclofenac sodium. Other ingredients are purified water, ethanol, isopropanol, carbomer and ammonia solution.

How long does Diclofenac Heumann Gel last?
The expiry date of Diclofenac Heumann Gel is stated on the packaging and tube. After the expiration date, the drug must no longer be used. After opening the tube, Diclofenac Heumann Gel has a shelf life of three months. To ensure effectiveness, the pain gel should not be stored above 25°C.

Why is a cream gentler on the organism?
A medicinal ointment is less absorbed by the organism than tablets because it is applied externally. Local application provides relief exactly where the pain occurs. The active ingredient largely accumulates in the inflamed tissue and is only absorbed by the blood to a small extent. In addition, in contrast to taking tablets orally, the drug does not get into the gastrointestinal tract and cannot cause any undesirable side effects there.

Diclofenac is an inexpensive alternative to the very expensive Voltaren. The gel is easy to apply, works quickly and the cooling effect is pleasant.
