Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken
  • if you are allergic to Colecalciferol or one of the other components of this medicine.
  • for hypercalcemia (increased calcium concentration in the blood) and/or hypercalciuria (increased calcium concentration in urine).
  • in pseudohypoparathyroidism (disturbance of the parathormone household), since the vitamin D requirement can be reduced by the phases of normal vitamin D sensitivity, with the risk of long-lasting overdose. For this purpose, more controllable active ingredients with vitamin D activity are available.

Application recommendation of Vitagamma vitamin D3 1,000 I.E. Tablets (pack size: 200 pcs):

Adults occupy the tablet with sufficient liquid, in infants and small children it is advisable to crush the tablet with a spoon back as finely as possible, mix with water on a teaspoon and to give the child the suspension directly in the mouth during a meal. The addition of the suspended tablet into a bottle or pilot period is not advisable.

How much vitamin D does the body need?
According to the German Society for Nutrition (DGE), the required daily requirement for vitamin D is 400 i.e. (10μg) for infants up to 12 months, in children from the 1st year and adults at 800 I.E. (20μg).
As an upper limit for the lifelong vitamin D intake (sum of food, nutritional supplements and medicines), the European Central Security Authority (EFSA) for adults and children from 11 years of age has a maximum daily dosage of 4,000 IR years and for children up to 10 years of 2,000 I.E.

Can you absorb vitamin D through food?
Vitamin D is primarily formed by sunlight, and via diet we can only absorb around 10 percent of the vitamin D requirement. A pure supply of food can only be achieved if large amounts of fat fish such as herring, eel and salmon are regularly consumed.

Can I recharge the sun in the solarium and absorb vitamin D in the skin?

Taking

• Infants and toddlers
  • The tablets should be used particularly carefully in infants and toddlers, since they may not be able to swallow and suffocate the tablets. Instead, it is recommended to crush the tablets as specified and mix with water or use drops or emulsions.
  • Shut off the tablet into the smallest possible parts, crush as finely as possible with a spoon back and mix on a teaspoon with a little water. This creates a suspension (mixture from parts of the tablet and water). This is best to put this directly in the mouth during a meal.
  • An addition of the suspended tablet to a bottle or bleeding period for infants is not recommended, since no complete intake can be guaranteed. If the tablets are still to be administered in the food, the addition will only be brought to the boil. When using vitaminized food, the amount of vitamin D contained therein must be taken into account.

• Warnings and Precautions

This review is particularly important in older patients and at the same time treatment with heart glycosides (medicines to promote the function of the cardiac muscles) or diuretics (medicines to promote urine excretion). In the case of hypercalcemia (increased calcium concentration in the blood) or signs of reduced kidney function, the dose must be reduced or the treatment is interrupted. It is advisable to reduce the dose or to interrupt the treatment if the calcium content in the urine exceeds 7.5 mmol/24 hours (300 mg/24 hours).

Overdoses of vitamin D during pregnancy must be prevented because long-lasting hypercalcemia (increased calcium concentration in the blood) can lead to physical and intellectual disabilities as well as innate heart and eye diseases of the child.
• Breastfeeding
  • Vitamin D and its metabolic products pass into breast milk. An overdose in the infant generated in this way has not been observed.
