Frequent questions and answers:

What is diabetic polyneuropathy?
It is the most common form of diabetic neuropathy. "Neuropathy" is the medical generic term for diseases of the nerves, "poly" means that several nerves are affected at the same time.

Specifically, the increased blood sugar mainly damages the particularly sensitive long nerve fibers, which extend into the feet and toes. Most of the time, the problems therefore occur on the tips of both feet and then spread out in the lower legs and hands. Due to the nerve damage, incorrect signals can be sent and become noticeable for the patient as sensations (e.g. tingling).

Why are the nerves damaged in diabetes?
Constantly increased blood sugar levels cause nerve -damaging processes to be started:
• Oxidative stress
• inflammatory reactions
• circulatory disorders

Especially oxidative stress increases the nerve. It is created, with diabetes more so -called free radicals - aggressive oxygen molecules, the body's structures (e.g. Nerve cells). Antioxidants are substances that make these radicals harmless and protect the body from it. They are therefore also called "radical catchers.

What is alpha lipoic acid?
Alpha lipoic acid is a natural fatty acid. The human body can partially produce them itself or absorb them through food.6 A lot of alpha lipoic acid is in broccoli, offal (kidneys, heart, liver), spinach and tomatoes.6 In the body, alpha lipoic acid takes on some important tasks: it is a strong antioxidant, protects cells from free radicals and thus reduces oxidative stress in the body. It is also involved in numerous metabolic reactions.

A special advantage: alpha lipoic acid is both water and fat-soluble.6 This allows it to counteract in a wide variety of areas in the body6 and diabetes -related nerve damage and the sensory sensations caused. The well -researched active ingredient has been used against sensations in diabetic polyneuropathy for more than 25 years.
