  • Besin the following cases, caution when taking pentoxyverin is required:
    • if the cough is associated with considerable mucus production or if you suffer from asthmatic cough, since under these circumstances there is not advisable to suppress the cough. In this case, only take pentoxyverin after consultation with your doctor.
    • in patients with functional disorders of the kidneys (renal failure) and in older patients, since there is no sufficient data for the use of this drug for these patient groups,
    • if you suffer from glaucoma (increased intraocular pressure),
    • if you suffer from a benign enlargement of the prostate (prostate hyperplasia).
    • If the cough remains over 2 weeks, the cause of your illness must be determined in detail by your doctor.
  • Children
    • Pentoxyverin must not be used in children under 2 years.
    • In individual cases, seizures and a reduction in breathing activity were seen in particular in small children, which is why toddlers have to be observed particularly carefully after taking pentoxyverin.
