Field of use

• This medicine contains an enzyme mixture, which is called pancreatic powder.
• Pancreas powder is also called pancreatin. It supports digestion. The enzymes are obtained from pancreas.
• This preparation contains small gastric-resistant microfilm tablets, which slowly relieve the pancreatic powder into the intestine.
• What the medicine is used for
  • it is used to treat exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. The pancreas does not produce enough enzymes to digest food.
  • it can be used in children, adolescents and adults. The dosage instructions for the age groups are explained in the "dosage" category.
  • Treatment with this preparation improves the symptoms of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, including stool consistency (e.g. greasy stool), abdominal pain, flatulence and stool frequency (diarrhea or constipation).
  • If you don't feel better or worse after 5 days, contact your doctor.
• How the medicine works
  • The enzymes in this preparation digest the food while walking through the intestine. You should take the medicine during or immediately after a meal or snack. This allows the enzymes to mix thoroughly with the food.

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken
  • if you are allergic to pancreatinine or one of the other components of this drug.

dosage

• Always take this medicine exactly as described bbetween exactly according to your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• Your dosage is given in "Lipase units". Lipase is one of the enzymes in the pancreatic powder. Different strengths of the drug contain different amounts of lipase. Always follow the instructions of your doctor how much you should take. Your doctor determines the right dose for her.
• This is based on:
  • the severity of their illness
  • Their weight
  • Their diet
  • the fat content in your chair
• If you continue to have a fat stool or other stomach or intestinal complaints (gastrointestinal symptoms), speak to your doctor because your dosage may have to be adjusted.

    • The usual initial dose for children under the age of 4 is 1,000 lipase units per kilogram of body weight per meal.
    • The usual initial dose for children from 4 years is 500 lipase units per kilogram of body weight per meal.
  • Young people and adults
    • The weight-based enzyme dose should begin in adolescents and adults with 500 lipase units per kilogram of body weight per meal.
    • The usual dose for a meal is between 25,000 and 80,000 lipase units. The usual dose for a snack is half of the dose for a meal.
  • For all ages
    • Your daily total dose should not exceed 2,500 lipase units per meal per kilogram per meal, or 10,000 lipase units per kilogram of body weight per day or 4,000 lipase units per gram of fat intake.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should
  • Drink a lot of water and speak to your doctor or pharmacist. Very high doses of pancreatic powder have sometimes caused an increase in uric acid in blood (hyperuricaemia) and urine (hyperuricosuria).

 

• If you have forgotten the intake
  • Take the next dose with the next meal as usual. Do not try to compensate for the forgotten dose.

 

• If you cancel the intake
  • Do not break off without having spoken to your doctor beforehand. Many patients have to take the medicine for life.

Taking

• Always take this medicine during or immediately after a meal or a snack. This allows the enzymes to mix thoroughly with the food and digest them while it goes through the intestine.
• The preparation should always be taken together with a meal or a snack.
• As a whole, the capsules should be swallowed with sufficient liquid.
• Do not crush or chew the capsules, as this can lead to irritation in the mouth or that can change the mode of action in your body.
• If it is difficult for you to swallow the capsules, open them carefully and take the microfilm tablets contained with sufficient liquid.
• Mix in non-acid food or liquid, crush or chew the microfilm tablets can lead to irritation in the mouth or change the mode of action in your body.
• Do not keep the capsules or their contents in your mouth. Make sure that the medicine is swallowed completely and no microfilm tablets remain in your mouth.

  • Patients with cystic fibrosis
    • In patients with cystic fibrosis, a rare bowel disease called "fibrosing colonopathy" was reported when taking high-dose pancreatic powder products, in which their intestine is narrowed. Inform your doctor if you suffer from cystic fibrosis and take more than 10,000 lipase units per kilogram of body weight per day and have unusual abdominal difficulties or changes in abdominal symptoms. The dosage of lipase units is in category "dosage" explained.
  • Severe allergic reaction
    • When an allergic reaction occurs, end your treatment and speak to your doctor. An allergic reaction could contain itching, hives or rash. In rare cases, a serious allergic reaction with a feeling of warmth, dizziness and fainting and suspicion of breathing can occur. These are symptoms of a severe, possibly life -threatening state that is referred to as the "anaphylactic shock". If this is the case, you will immediately call medical help.
    • Before taking the preparation, speak to your doctor if you are allergic to pig proteins.
  • Review in the mouth
    • Pain in the mouth, irritation (stomatitis), bleeding and ulcer formation in the mouth can occur if the capsules were chewed and/or kept in the mouth for too long. Rinsing the mouth and drinking a glass of water can help when the mouth appears first.
  • The preparation can only be spread on certain foods.

 

• Wateriness and ability to operate machines
  • The medicine has no effect on the traffic and operating machines.

Pregnancy

• If you are pregnant or breastfeed, or if you suspect that you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this drug.

Miscellaneous

It is important to be careful to swallow the preparation unz -chew, as it contains active enzymes that are released in the oral cavity, e.g. B. chewing, can lead to mucosal damage (ulcerations of the oral mucosa).

The absorption of folic acid (absorption of folic acid in the blood) can be reduced by taking pancreatic powder-containing finished medicinal products so that additional folic acid intake may be required.

The effect of the blood sugar -lowering active ingredients (oral antidiabetics) acarbosis and Miglitol can be reduced by simultaneously taking the preparation.

In individual cases, allergic reactions from the immediate type (such as rash, sneezing, tear flow, bronchospasm) and allergic reactions of the digestive tract have been described after taking pancreatic powder. If this allergic reaction occurs, the preparation must be discontinued immediately and a doctor must be consulted as soon as possible.

In patients with a characteristic malfunction of the pancreas (cystic fibrosis), the formation of narrowing (strictures) in lower intestinal sections (ileozökal region and colon ascendics) has been described in individual cases.

With the symptoms -like symptoms.
Colon lock is a known complication in patients with cystic fibrosis. If there is a symptoms -like symptoms, the possibility of intestinal narrowing should also be considered.

In patients with cystic fibrosis, an increased uric acid excretion in urine can occur, especially with the intake of high doses of pancreatin. Therefore, uric acid excretion in these patients should be checked in the urine to avoid the formation of uric acid stones.

The preparation should not be taken during the pancreatitis acute and an acute thrust of chronic pancreatitis during the florid phase of illness.
