Field of use

• This preparation is a drug that contains digestive substances (enzymes) from the pancreas of pigs (pancreatic powder, also called pancreatin).
• It is used to treat digestive disorders (maldigration) caused by a reduced or lack of function of the pancreas (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency).

Contradictions

• The preparation must not be used,
  • if you are allergic to pancreatic powder, pork or one of the other part of this medicine.
  • if you suffer from acute inflammation of the pancreas or acute sparkling with chronic inflammation of the pancreas during the fully pronounced phase of disease. In the subscriptions during the dietary structure (protective food), however, the administration occasionally makes sense for existing digestive problems.

dosage

• Always take this medicine exactly as described or exactly after the agreement made with your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• The recommended dose is
  • 1 to 2 capsules per meal (corresponding to 20,000 to EUR 40,000 EUR. Units Lipase).
  • The required dose depends on the severity of the digestive disorder, so the required dose can also be above it. An increase in the dose should only be carried out under medical control and aimed at improving the disease signs (e.g. fat chairs, abdominal pain).
  • The required dose also depends on the fat content of the meal.
  • A daily dose of 15,000 to 20,000 pH. Units Lipase per kilogram of body weight should not be exceeded.
  • Especially in patients with cystic fibrosis, the dose, taking into account the amount and composition of meals, should not exceed the enzyme dose necessary for an appropriate fat intake.

• Duration of the application
  • The duration of the application depends on the course of the disease and is determined by your doctor.
  • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.

• Application in children and adolescents
  • Children under the age of 15 with cystic fibrosis should not be treated with this medicine.

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should
  • Drink a lot of water and speak to your doctor or pharmacist. Extremely high doses of pancreatic powder can lead to an increase in uric acid in blood (hyperuricaemia) and urine (hyperuricosuria), especially in cystic fibrosis patients.

• If you take it have forgotten
  • Do not take the double amount if you have forgotten the prior intake, but simply continue with the treatment as recommended.

• If you cancel the intake
  • If you end or interrupt the treatment prematurely, you have to expect your symptoms to return.

Taking

• Take the preparation Uncertwood with plenty of liquid, preferably in the middle of the meal. Do not take the preparation while lying down.
• Please make sure to swallow the medicinal product, as the preparation can be reduced when chewing, in particular the microtablets, in the effectiveness and the enzymes it contains can damage the mucous membrane when the oral cavity is released.
• If you cannot swallow the hard capsule, you can open them and the microtablets contained therein, which are covered with gastric juice, swallow without a capsule case. Please make sure not to chew the microtablets.
• In any case, you should always drink plenty of liquid (water or juice).

• Warnings and Precautions
  • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the preparation.
    • If you get cystic fibrosis, a congenital metabolic disorder, suffering and therefore pancreatic powder from the pig in high doses, there is the possibility in individual cases that intestinal narrowing (strictures) form in certain parts of the thin and large intestine. These narrowing may lead to an intestinal obstruction. The following symptoms can indicate an intestinal obstruction: nausea and vomiting, belching, bloating with stool and wind preservation in connection with (violent) colic-like pain. If strong and possibly unusual complaints in the area of the digestive tract occur with you, a doctor must be consulted immediately. In the case of the intestinal obstruction of similar signs of illness, the possibility of intestinal narrowing should also be considered.
    • If unusual gastrointestinal complaints or changes in the symptoms occur, you should have this examined as a precaution by your doctor in order to exclude the possibility of damage to the intestine. This applies in particular to patients who take over EUR 10,000 per kg per kg of body weight every day.
    • This medicine contains active enzymes that can cause mucosal damage (e.g. wounds in the oral mucosa) when the oral cavity is released. Therefore, be careful to take the preparation un -chewed.
  • Children and adolescents
    • Children under the age of 15 with cystic fibrosis should not be treated with this preparation.

• Wateriness and ability to operate machines
  • The preparation has no or a negligible influence on the traffic and the ability to use machines.

Pregnancy

• If you are pregnant or breastfeed, or if you suspect that you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this drug.
• There is no sufficient experience with the application of the drug in pregnant women.
• There are insufficient data from animal experimental studies in relation to pregnancy, development of the unborn child, childbirth and development of the child after birth. The possible risk for humans is not known. If you are pregnant or if you breastfeed, you should not take the medicine unless your doctor considers you to take it is absolutely necessary.
