Field of use

Emesan (pack size: 20 pc) is a remedy for nausea and vomiting from the group of H1 antihistamines. Emesan (pack size: 20 pc) is used to prevent and symptomatic treatment of nausea and vomiting of different cause, especially in the event of travel sickness. Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken
  • if you are allergic to diphenhydramine hydrochloride, against other antihistamines or one of the other components of the drug
  • with acute asthma,

  • when the use of medicines, which also extend the so-called QT interval in the EKG or lead to hypocalaemia,
  • if the intake of alcohol or so-called "Mao inhibitors" (means of treating depression),
  • in children under the age of 6 and
  • during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Application recommendation of the Emesan (pack size: 20 pc):

Take the contents of a bag (pregnant women up to two bags) directly every day or add them in a glass of fruit juice or water and drink immediately.

The recommended dose of the Emesan® tablets is:

Take the tablets unscrewed with sufficient liquid (e.g. ½ glass of water) and swallow the tablet quickly. In this way, it can be avoided to develop the product -specific taste in the mouth. In order to prevent travel sickness, the intake should take place at least 30 minutes before the start of the trip.
The duration of treatment with Emesan® tablets should be as short as possible. If the symptoms continue to exist, please see a doctor immediately.

Patient information

• Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine
• Particular caution when taking the drug is required,
  • if you suffer from one of the following diseases:
    • restricted liver function
    • restricted kidney function
    • chronic lung diseases or asthma
    • certain gastric dysfunction (pylorus stenosis or achalasia of cardia)
  • Particular caution is required in older and/or weakened patients.
  • Before the start of treatment with diphenhydramine, the causes of this disease, which can be treated specifically, should be clarified.
• Tolerance development
  • After repeated use of the drug over a longer period of time, there may be a loss of effectiveness (tolerance).
• Dependency
  • The application of the active ingredient diphenhydramin hydrochloride (contained in the preparation) can lead to the development of physical and mental dependence. The risk of dependency increases with the dose and the duration of the treatment. This risk is also increased in patients with alcohol, drug or drug addiction in the history.
• Children under 6:
  • Due to the high content of the active substance, the drug is not suitable for children under 6 years. Medicines with a lower active ingredient content are available for this.

• Wateriness and ability to operate machines
  • The active ingredient diphenhydramine hydrochloride (contained in the preparation) can also change the reaction capacity to the extent that the ability to actively participate in road traffic or to operate machines can be affected. Therefore, no vehicles may be managed or dangerous machines may be operated. On the following day, too, residual tiredness and impaired reaction capacity or reduced ability to concentrate can still have a negative impact on the ability to drive or the ability to work with machines, especially after inadequate sleeping time or in interaction with alcohol.

Pregnancy

• If you are pregnant or breastfeed, or if you suspect that you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this drug.
• The active ingredient diphenhydramine hydrochloride (contained in the preparation) must not be used during pregnancy and lactation.
