Field of use

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be used/applied:
  • if you are hypersensitive to citric acid, sodium citrate, potassium hydrogen carbonate or one of the other components of the effervescent tablets.
  • if you have a limited kidney function
  • if you suffer from urinary tract infections with urea -splitting bacteria (risk of struvit stone formation)
  • if you suffer from metabolic alkalosis
  • if you suffer from a rare hereditary disease with increased potassium level (Adynamia Episodica Hereditaria)
  • Children under the age of 12 can be ruled out from the treatment because there are no sufficient experiences for this age group.

dosage

• Always take the medicine exactly according to instructions.
• Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
  • The following applies to the alkalization of the urine in uric acid stairs:
    • The pH value of the fresh urine must be placed in the range of 6.2-6.8 to prevent recurrence (recurrence prophylaxis or metaphylaxis).
    • The daily dose required for this can vary in every patient. As a rule, a daily dose of 3 effervescent tablets, divided into three equal details throughout the day, is indicated.
    • If the daily profiles of the urine PH fall below the pH 6.2, the dosage must be increased accordingly. Such a correction should preferably be made by increasing the evening dose to 2 effervescent tablets, in exceptional cases on 3 effervescent tablets.
    • If the pH value of 6.8 is exceeded, the dose must be reduced. Such a correction should also be carried out preferably with the evening dose.
    • For the chemical resolution of uric acid stones (chemolithholysis), the pH of the fresh urine must be placed in a range of 7.0-7.2.
  • The following applies to metaphylaxis of calcium stones and the alkalization of the urine in uric acid stairs with the simultaneous calcium stones:
    • It must be set a pH area of the fresh urine of 6.8-7.4. Individual dosage is required to achieve this pH area, usually 3 effervescent tablets. The dose of setting can be increased, with 5 shower tables usually sufficient.
    • A daily dose of 3 effervescent tablets can be taken over the day as a one -time dose in the evening or in three same details. With any higher dose, the distribution to three individual gipts with one effervescent tablet is recommended early and at noon and 2-3 effervescent tablets in the evening.
• In accordance with the instructions of the doctor, the drug is to be dosed effectively, i.e. the individual dosage that brings the urine into the optimal pH area must be determined.
• The effect control is usually carried out three times a day by measuring the pH value in the urine.
• Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the drug is too strong or too weak.

• Duration of the application:
  • Depending on the stone size, treatment times of four weeks to six months are necessary to resolve stone.
  • In any case, the duration of use must be determined by the treating doctor.
  • In recurrence prophylaxis, an individually defined interval therapy has proven itself.

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should
  • An undesirable influence of metabolic physiological parameters is auch at higher than the recommended dosage with sufficient kidney function, since the excretion of a base surplus by the kidney is a natural regulatory mechanism to maintain the acid-base equilibrium.

Taking

• The effervescent tablet is dissolved in a glass of water and drunk immediately after dissolving.
• Please stir slightly.
• A slight turbidity is possible and low insoluble components can settle on the surface.

Patient information

• Particular caution when taking it is required:
  • A sufficient kidney function must be ensured before the first treatment with the preparation and increased electrolyte levels in the serum must be excluded. If you suspect renal-tubular acidose (RTA), the acid-base status must also be checked.
  • If you suffer from conditions that can favor the occurrence of urinary stones (e.g. adenomes of the parathyroid gland, malignancies in uric acid stones), these should primarily be supplied with a causal therapy.
  • Regular checks of urinary and blood values should be carried out during treatment. Particular attention should be paid to the acid-base status.
  • To support the effect of the drug, you should reduce salt intake during treatment.
  • A daily drinking amount of approx. 2-3 l in the form of tea, fruit juices or alkalizing mineral waters is necessary to reduce the risk of stone due to a sufficient urine.
  • If you suffer from severe liver dysfunction, you may only use the medicine with caution.

• Wateriness and operating machines:
  • The medicine has no influence on the reaction capacity.

Pregnancy

• Pregnancy and breast feeding period
  • Notes on harmful effects during pregnancy and in the breastfeeding period are not known.
• Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking/using all drugs.

Miscellaneous

- If uric acid metabolism disorder at the same time, allopurinol preparations can be given together with effervescent tablets.
- During the application, must be avoided in purine -rich foods (e.g. offal, sardines).
- A daily drinking amount of approx. 2 l in the form of tea, fruit juices or alkalizing mineral waters is necessary.
