Field of use

• The preparation is a pain relieving and fever -lowering medicine.
• Areas of application: for symptomatic treatment of light to moderately severe pain and fever.
• For use in infants from 3 kg body weight.

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be used
  • if your child is allergic (hypersensitive) against paracetamol or another part of the preparation
  • if your child suffers from a severe liver dysfunction (Child-Pugh >/= 9)

dosage

• Benuron is suitable for the treatment of newborns and infants from 3 kg body weight. Please ask your pediatrician for advice before using the medicine.
• Always apply the preparation exactly according to the instruction. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• The drug is dosed depending on body weight and age, with 10 to 15 mg/kg body weight as a single dose, up to a maximum of 60 mg/kg body weight as a total dose of daily dose.
• The respective dosage interval depends on the symptoms and the maximum total daily dose. There should be at least a 6 hour interval between the applications.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
  • Age: younger than 3 months

• Duration of the application

• If you have used a larger amount of your child than you should

  • In this case, contact a doctor immediately - even with temporarily declining symptoms - who will take the necessary measures.

 

• If you have forgotten the application
  • Do not apply the double dose if you have forgotten the previous application.

Taking

• The suppositories are for rectal use. If possible, they are inserted deep into the anus after the bowel movement. Warm up suppository in the hand to improve the sliding capacity or dive briefly in hot water.

Patient information

• Particular caution when using the drug is required if your child
  • suffers from liver dysfunction (e.g. liver inflammation),
  • has a pre -damaged kidney,
  • the rare congenital metabolic disorder of Gilbert syndrome (also known as a meulengracht disease), which is accompanied by an increased bilirubin content of the blood, suffers.
• In these cases, use the preparation only after consultation with your doctor.
• General remark
  • In the case of longer high -dose, non -determined use of pain relievers, headaches can occur that may not be treated by increased doses of the drug. In general, the habitual intake of pain relievers, especially when combining several pain relieving active ingredients, can lead to permanent kidney damage with the risk of kidney failure (analgesic nephropathy).

Pregnancy

• This chapter is not relevant for the preparation, since the suppositories are used for newborns and infants from 3 kg body weight. However, the information is important for the active ingredient paracetamol.
• Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking/using all drugs.
• Pregnancy
  • Paracetamol should not be taken over a longer period of time during pregnancy, in high doses or in combination with other medicines, since the use of the application is not proven for these cases.
• Breastfeeding
  • Paracetamol passes into breast milk. Since adverse consequences for the infant have not yet become known, an interruption of breastfeeding will generally not be necessary.

Hints

Do not apply longer for pain or fever without medical advice than specified in the package insert!

Miscellaneous

- In the case of liver or kidney dysfunction as well as Gilbert syndrome, the amount must be reduced or the distance between the applications is extended .- significant liver-damaging effects can be used for a long time of increased amounts of tablet (by 6 g paracetamol) over e.g. A lack of pre-damage to the liver, such as in non-alcoholic, occurs.
