Anaesthesin® Pastilles
8 mg benzocaine per lollipop
For use in adolescents over 16 years and adults.

Read the entire leaflet carefully because it contains important information for you.
This medicine is available without prescription. However, in order to achieve the best possible treatment success, Anaesthesin® pastilles must be used properly.

1. What are Anaesthesin® Pastilles and what are they used for?

These pastilles belong to the group of sorekeeper (Local anesthetics).
Anaesthesin® Pastilles are used for the short-term local treatment of painful complaints in the oral and throat room.

2. What do you need to consider before using Anaesthesin® Pastilles?

Anaesthesin® Pastilles may not be used,
  • if you hypersensitive (allergic) against benzocaine or Against other local anesthetics from the ESTERTY type group, peppermint oil, Ponceau 4R or any of the other ingredients of Anesthesin® Pastilles are.
  • for infants and toddlers under 2 years (risk of a laryngeal stalk).
  • in patients with bronchial ethma or other respiratory diseases associated with a pronounced resource sensitivity. The inhalation of Anaesthesin® pastilles can lead to respiratory distress or trigger an asthma attack.

Take special care with Anaesthesin® Pastilles :
Local anesthetics can affect swallowing and increase the risk of swallowing. Food or drink immediately after application of the lollipops should be avoided. The deafness of tongue and oral mucosa can increase the risk of bite injuries.

Children:
Children and adolescents under the age of 16 are not allowed to apply Anesesthesin® pastilles, as there is insufficient information about efficacy and compatibility in children up to 16 years.

Applying Anaesthesin® Pastilles with other medicines :
Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you take / use other medicines or recently taken / applied, even if it is non-prescription medicines.
Interactions between Anaesthesin® Pastilles and other medicines are unknown.

Pregnancy and breast feeding period :
There are very few experiences with an application of Anaesthesin® pastilles in pregnant women. If you are pregnant, you should not use Anaesthesin® Pastilles, unless your attending physician considers this for UNconditionally required.
It is not known if Benzocaine, the active ingredient of Anaesthesin® pastilles, goes into breast milk. If you breastfeed, you should not use Anaesthesin® Pastilles unless your attending physician will keep this necessary.

Driveion and use of machines :
In the case of proper application, there are no restrictions on the ability to drive.

Important information about certain other ingredients of Anaesthesin® Pastilles :
This medicine contains maltitol solution. Please contact Anaesthesin® pastilles only after consulting with your doctor if you are familiar with any intolerance to certain sugars.

3. How are Anaesthesin® Pastilles to apply?

Always use Anaesthesin® Pastilles exactly as directed in this leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
Adults and adolescents over 16 years let 1 pastille slowly crumble in the mouth, if necessary every 2 hours. The maximum daily dose is 6 pastilles. For use in the mouth ratchet. Slowly melt Anaesthesin® pastilles in the mouth. Do not use Anaesthesin® Pastilles without a medical or dental council no longer than 3 days.
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Anaesthesin® Pastilles is too strong or too weak.

If you have used a larger amount of Anesthesin® Pastilles than you should:
Contact a doctor or pharmacist. When using a very high number of Anaesthesin® pastilles, overdose is possible. The symptoms are air groove and bluish discoloration of the lips and the finger. In these cases, you should immediately consult a doctor.

If you forget the application of Anaesthesin® Pastilles:
Continue the application as indicated above.

4. Which side effects are possible?

Like all medicines, Anesthesin®-Pastilla can have side effects that do not have to occur.
The frequency information on side effects is based on the following categories:

Very common: More than 1 treated from 10
Frequently: 1 to 10 treated from 100
Occasionally: 1 to 10 treated from 1,000
Rarely: 1 to 10 treated from 10,000
Very rare: less than 1 treated from 10,000
Unknown: Frequency on the basis of the available data is not estimable

  • In rare cases, contact dermatitis and / or hypersensitivity reactions may occur. Benzocaine or a metabolite PABA (para-aminobenzoic acid) can cause burning, itching, erythema, urticaria and edema of the skin or mucous membrane.
  • In very rare cases, benzocaine can cause methemoglobinemia with breath and cyanosis (bluish discoloration of the lips and fingers.
  • Ponceau 4R can cause hypersensitivity reactions.
  • Peppermint oil can cause a laryngeal cramp in infants and children up to 2 years with the consequence of heavy breathing disorders.

Which countermeasures are to take with side effects?
If the side effects occurring, the medicine should be discontinued and a doctor is visited.

5. How to Storage Anaesthesin® Pastilles?

Store drug out of reach of children.
You must not use the medicinal product after the expiry date specified on the folding box and the blister.

Do not store more than 25 ° C.

What Anaesthesin® Pastilles included
The active ingredient is benzocaine.
1 lollipop contains 8 mg benzocaine.

The other ingredients are :
Gelatine, maltitol solution, sodium chloride, saccharine sodium, medium-chain triglycerides, low-fluid paraffin; bleached wax; Peppermint oil, anise oil, Ponceau 4R.
