Ferro-follow, soft capsules
Active ingredients: iron (II) sulfate, dried (ph.eur.) 112 mg, corresponding to iron (II) sulfate, anhydrous 100 mg (equivalent to 37 mg iron), folic acid 5 mg, cyanocobalamine 10 μg

1. What is Ferro-Folkung and what is it used for?

Antianaic
For iron therapy with folic acid and vitamin B12.

Ferro-follock is used in combined iron, folic acid And vitamin B12 deficiency states of different genesis.

2.What do you need to consider before taking Ferro-Folkama?

Ferro-Folkama may not be taken:

• if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to cyanocobalamine (Vitamin B12), folic acid, iron (II) sulfate, soy, peanut or any of the other ingredients,
• for iron cumulation (hemochromatoses, chronic hemolysenes) and iron recovery disorders (sideroachrestic anemias, lead anemias, thalassaemias).

An absolute counterpart consists of megaloblast anemia due to isolated vitamin B12 defects (e.g., due to lack of intrinsic factor), isolated folic acid deficiency.

Take special care with Ferro-Folkama:
To avoid the risk of possible iron overdose, special caution is required if dietary or other iron salt supplements are used. On folic acid, vitamin B12- And iron deficiency redirected diseases can also have other causes. If the ingestion shows no effect, you should consult your doctor with serious complaints.

Children:
The medicine is not suitable for children under 12 years.

Older people:
There are no special precautions required.

When taking Ferro-Folkungs with other medicines:
Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have applied other medicines or recently applied, even if it is non-prescription medicines.

• Iron salts reduce the absorption of tetracyclines, penicillamine, levodopa and methyldopa
• Iron salts influence the absorption of quinolon antibiotics (eg Ciprofloxazine, Levofloxazine, Norfloxazine, Ofloxazine)
• Iron salts reduce the absorption of thyroxine in patients who obtain substitution thyroxine substitution therapy.
• The absorption of iron is by simultaneous use of cholestyramine, antacida (Ca ++, Mg++, AI +++ salts) and calcium and magnesium supplement preparations are reduced.
• The simultaneous intake of iron salts with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can reinforce the irritation of iron to the mucosal of the gastrointestinal tract.
• Iron-binding substances such as phosphates, phytates or oxalates as well as milk, coffee and tea inhibit iron resorption. Ferro-follock should not be taken within the following 2-3 hours after administration of one of the above-mentioned substances.
• Under anticonvulsive therapy, there may be an increase in convulsiveness.
• At administration of high doses can not be ruled out that folic acid and simultaneously administered folic acid antagonists, such as e.g. Chemotherapeutics and cytostatics inhibit mutually in their effect.
• Together with fluorouracil, high doses of folic acid can lead to heavy diarrines.
• Chloramphenicol can prevent the response to the treatment with folic acid and should therefore not be administered to patients with severe folic acid levels.

When taking Ferro-Folkama together with food and drinks:
Ferro-Folkama should not be taken together with milk, coffee or black tea, as they reduce iron absorption.

Pregnancy and breast feeding period:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking / application of all medicines. There are no risks known for dosages up to 5 mg of folic acid per day. Higher doses must not be taken during pregnancy and lactation. Due to the folic acid content in Ferro-Folkama, if they are pregnant, they may not take more than a soft capsule daily. Folic acid is actively eliminated in the breast milk.

Driveion and use of machines:
There are no special precautions required.

Important information about specific ingredients of Ferro-Folkama:
This medicine contains sorbitol. Please take Ferro-Folkamma only after consulting your doctor if you are known to suffer from any intolerance to certain sugars. This medicine contains sojalencithin. Please note the information under "Ferro-Folkama must not be taken".

3.How is Ferro-Folkung to take?

Always take Ferro-Folkama exactly as directed in this leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Ferro-Folkamma is too strong or too weak. Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is: Adults: 3 Time daily 1-2 soft capsules, children from 12 years: 3 times a day 1 Soft capsule.

Type of application:
Please take the soft capsules after eating with a little fluid.

Duration of treatment:
The duration of the application depends on the course of the basic disease. Please ask your doctor!

If you take a larger amount of Follo-Folkama than you should:
A short-term overdose is usually uncomfortable. If complaints occur, please contact your doctor.

If you forget to take Ferro-Folkampa:
Take Ferro-Folkungs as before to the usual times and in future remember the regular intake.

If you stop taking Ferro-Folkung:
In order to achieve a treatment success, Ferro-Folkamma should be taken as regularly as possible. If you want to interrupt the treatment or to quit prematurely, please talk to your doctor.

4.What side effects are possible?

Like all medicines, Ferro-Folkamma may have side effects that do not have to occur. The assessment of side effects is based on the following frequency information:

Possible side effects:
Iron:
Iron compounds have a local irritant effect and therefore can lead to gastrointestinal disturbances as well as constipation. In individual cases, allergic reactions, e.g. as an erythema, pruritus, bronchospasm or anaphylactic shock. Note: A dark staining of the chair is harmless. The benzidal sample becomes positive.

Folic acid:
At high doses occasionally gastrointestinal disturbances, sleep disorders, excitement, depression.

Cyanocobalamine (Vitamin B12):
Very rarely reported on acne, eczema-dating or urticarial drug reactions as well as anaphylactic or anaphylactoid reactions.

SojaLecithin:
Could cause allergic reactions very rarely.
